I'm on PR2, but I don't think a lot has changed.

I'll update anyway :) (if only to help with the "we've been downloaded xx,xxx, xxx, xxx amount of times)

Is there anywhere on the program that will update it automatically do it for me ?
Or do i have to download it off the site and upgrade from there ?

From what version?

There have been about 200 bug fixes since the last version. (included some security updates). 0.9 was meant to be "feature complete", although they did add the Find bar, and Plugins Update since then.

The development cycle between 0.9 and 1.0 was meant mainly for hunting down most of the bugs, and not adding new features (which usually add bugs)

U know what.. I think it runs better than the 1PR.....

It runs the forums faster... (and at least the livebookmarks reload..)

I just wanted to bump this up to see what you all are thinking about Firefox. I am dloading the installer now.

I liked Netscape for the longest time. Then it seemed like they were trying to do so many things that they were doing nothing well. That and some work requirements and I have been on IE for 6 years now.

I am sick of the security/spy that IE is prone to. That is why I am checking out FF. I just wanted to know what you find good AND what you find challenging about FF.

Thanks

Good: Tab Browsing, Extensions, Themes, Find-as-you-Type, Speedy Rendering, Live Bookmarks, built-in Google (and more) bar, updated daily, keywords...

To add to what ogryn said... built-in popup blocking is a plus, drastically reduced spyware problems, fewer security flaws...

The only bad side I can think of offhand is that it takes a few seconds longer to load the program (since it's not built into Windows like Exploder) but for the benefits, I could care less!

I have 2 systems, one at my office which is what I loaded FF on yesterday. I could not get Flash to install. I get the install missing plug ins. Flash comes up on a list. I get the license agreement. Then it just sits there and does nothing. I let it 'search' for well over an hour.

Any ideas?

I am going to try it on this machine (home) sometime today.

Yeah, the BF switched all of our puters, two laptops and a desktop, over to Foxfire. I really like it a lot. I encourage more people to use it and leave that dreadful dreck IE.

By the way, thanks Ogryn for all the Foxfire threads!! I'm going over them again to make sure the new version isn't missing anything!! Good show, man!! :king:

Still use IE at work, but I love FF! The tabbed browsing is awesome.

But, one word of warning, just because you use FF doesn't take away all spyware... much of it is in pesky downloads and cute little programs. If you install those, even with FF, you still have the junk on your puter.

The main advantages is that FireFox will tell you when something is trying to install itself. With IE it can do it automatically. Just use your common sense... and don't go surfing animal (j/k)

RU42... I find the Plug-In support to be a little tempermental still. Get Flash directly from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/ge...sh/win95nt/7.0.19.0/flashplayer7installer.exe

Get Java from: http://java.sun.com (stand alone installer) or http://java.mozdev.org/java_xpis/index.html (browser plug-in installer)

Not defending IE, but that setting is off by default! Even with FF, everyone should have AdAware or other spyware removal program!

The flash installer was a little goofy and I've had problems with the quicktime plugin. Overall, FF is a wonderful app! Oh, and Thunderbird is coming along nicely for email.
