LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Splash Mountain ride at Walt Disney World shut down briefly Wednesday because of reports of a burning smell in the electrical room.

Reedy Creek Fire Department Deputy Chief Richard LePere said there was no smoke or fire when crews responded shortly after 11 a.m. He said the ride was closed for a little more than an hour as a precaution.

LePere said a blown transistor switch may have been the cause of the smell. Nobody was injured.

A Disney spokesman said the disruption was minimal.

Splash Mountain is in the Magic Kingdom's Frontier Land. The water ride culminates in a large drop that soaks passengers.

Could have been just a fire alarm (Signal 25) and the tower has to cycle out the ride. Even if it was a false alarm or just a smoke detector going off. Then they just the start ride back up and cycle again.

What I was going to say. Signal 25 calls for a cycle out, not an evac. It has to be bad for an evac, because cycle outs get guests out of the ride MUCH more quickly.
