Fire In Disneyland

They did. One article I read stated that the tree had a fire retardant on it that had actually been okayed by AFD when the Christmas season began.

Just wanted to point out that "fire retardant" doesn't mean "fire proof"... I don't know what the exact definition is, but it generally means that it'll keep something from burning if a flame is applied for a short time, or under other conditions. But eventually it'll burn... The retardant will help keep a fire from spreading, allowing human intervention to put out the fire.

There are very few things that are trully fire proof.

How did Disney treat the guests after the fire? Did they get something extra.

I can imagine they did not get into the park very early, they went to bed at 7 am. :xmas:

The local news stated that all guests would not be charged for that night's stay.

On a related note (fire retardant trees), our local state house tree in Providence was a real tree that had been sprayed with a fire retardant chemical (a state law since the Station Nightclub fire). The week after they sprayed it every single needle fell off the tree - it made the Charlie Brown tree look full! It really was funny to see!

Someone on MiceChat said they were scheduled to check out that day, and when they got there to checkout, they had to specifically request that the charge be taken off. They also did not get their $55 room tax taken off.
