The show JUST started. It makes no sense to cut performances solely based on attendance. Something else must be happening here.

executives cutting the show to save their precious dollars! Well, look at all the money you wasted on training and rehearsals if you cancel shows! 1500 seats auditorium and only 500 shows up for a show...that's 50 word of mouth advertising you get! (at the expense of the guests admission)

They just need to advertise it's back some more. Disney Park channel in the hotels. Notification in DME. Piping in "Go With the Flow" at the tapstiles.

The 12:30 and 2:30 shows on Monday were very full, anyway. The overflow bleachers in the back were covered by the giant black curtains, however.

If that's the case, then the two-show cancelation would make sense since EQUITY only allows performers to do a max of 4 shows per day.

That’s not how that works.
In a show like Nemo where each track/role is highly specialized and specific you don’t have that. Also with the show just opening they most likely haven’t had time to crosstrain/train subs, etc.

Given that they just opened Monday and knowing how things work with AEA, I would bet money they haven’t rehearsed a full bench of understudies and swings yet.

In the pre-COVID times, they literally had a dozen people who could play each role that could be called in. That’s not the case again yet.
