The COVID version sucks, unfortunately. It's just silly when you have the guests in the audience sitting on top of each other but the Prince and Belle can't even touch gloved hands to one another.
Yes it's quite odd, but it's nice having an outdoor show back in some capacity that can eat people for a good 40 (gasp!) minutes if guests arrive early.

If it's a half day park (which I don't agree with) why not enjoy 10 extra minutes of show?
Oh I liked the show, but I'm sure it's passed over by many who are more interested in riding rides and 40 minutes for a show seems like something they'd rather not spend their limited AK time on. Why see Nemo when you can stand in line for FOP?

Is the union a particular pain in the ***? It can't just be the couple of dollars an hour more that they get paid, it's just too small for him to care about.

Actors Equity is the Union of Broadway to say the least. Some here will agree with you, some here won’t. Disney last year tried to make equity look bad by stating ‘the Actors’ Equity rejected our safety protocols and have not made themselves available to continue negotiations, which is unfortunate’. Equity wanted regular testing for is members who obviously can’t social distance in a show unless it’s restaged. Disney didn’t want that…
Equity is a challenge broader than just the parks. It’s big enough that they have a lot of sway. Equity is essentially the on stage version of IATSE. Their members cannot do out of union work, they have exclusive agreements with dozens of venues across the country, etc. They tend to be somewhat reasonable while at the same time very aware of the fact that they’re important. Beyond the parks, between ABC, Disney’s many film arms, and things like Disney on Ice, they have significant pull. So, are they the best to work with from Disney’s perspective? No. Could it be worse? Absolutely.

I'm thinking about investing in an inflatable seat cushion before my next trip.
I always bring one. When I brought extra for siblings, they looked at me like I was crazy, but... they eventually appreciated it.

They're especially handy for when you grab some food and find a place to sit on the ground for the parade or fireworks and have a little picnic waiting for the show.
