Got one week at a 1 bedroom at Beach Club Villas in September and we are doing the happy dance all over the house.
Please share your thoughts, insights, tips, hints, advice, photographs or anything else about the BCV.
Thanks,
Ricky

We love BCV (it's one of our 4 home resorts). The best thing is the location right outside Epcot (a 5 minute stroll). We also love Stormalong Bay (the best feature pool at WDW). Plus, you can take a short stroll around Crescent Lake to the Boardwalk area.

Be sure to eat lunch at Beaches and Cream. I recommend the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe, and dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Plus, you can easily dine at the Epcot restaurants and the Boardwalk restaurants too.

Don't forget to say hi to Art the Greeter!

I would second everything that DVC Mike said. Stormalong Bay is incredible and the short walk to Epcot is a dream! We loved being able to stroll along the Boardwalk area at night and then walk back to our resort.

Have a great time!!

WE love everything about BCV and also agree with everything Mike added in. Just one more thing--say hello to Art the greater. One of the nicest men you will meet!:sohappy:

I agree with DVC Mike as well. We don't own there but have been placed on the wait list several times with no success. You will definetly have a greater advantage booking BCV within the 11 month window. We have friends that own BCV and visited it several times. After staying at all of the other DVC resorts within Disney World, we feel that BCV is the premier DVC resort.

I love BCV, I think it is my favorite DVC resort for all the reasons DVC Mike said.

It is closer to walk to Epcot then bother with the boat. There is kind of a back path behind the resort that can make the walk shorter depending on where your room is.

I like the pool views. The rest seem to be road view. Not as nice.

Have a great trip.

We are trying out AKV for the 1st time in a few weeks and I am very excited about it.

I think one of the things we are most looking forward to is Stormalong Bay and just spending some time there.

Hurricane Hannah's which is pool side makes great drinks and cocktails. I love the Hurricane they serve which is not for the faint of heart.

BCV is great! Perfect location....so close to Epcot (walk or ferry) and a ferry boat away from Studios. I love the location.

Plus, the best pool in WDW. We have been eating at Cape May Cafe for dinner (whether we stay at BCV or not) on the last few trips to the World. :)

Our 'home' is OKW, but our favorite resort is WLV although BCV certainly is climbing our list!

Have a great time, I know you will!

I am going to be the voice of dissent. I like Boardwalk better. Shoot me :)

It's just me. When I get into a pool I like to swim, as opposed to go into a whirlpool or fight the tubes on the lazy river. Stormalong bay is a WONDEEFUL pool, it's just not my kind of pool. My kids on the other hand, if I ever turn down BC in exchange for BW, they would have a fit !

Really the two resorts are close enough that it does not make a differnce, you just can't use Stormalong Bay if you are at BW. I like being at boardwalk because then it's a short (read - uncomplicated) walk after ESPN club or Jellyrolls. I also like the entertainment on the Boardwalk, which of course you can walk over and see if you are at BC, but if you are at BW its "right there". It's also a shorter walk to DHS and if you are on Disney bus service, you can get off at the Swan at the first stop and a short walk and you are home.

Anyway, you will have a great time at BC. It's a very very nice resort and its location cannot be beat if you are an Epcot fan. If you are into the pool, then you have the right place to stay. I just like BW better for a few minor reasons that are to MY taste. I still would not complain about a stay at BC.

So should two people even attemp a Kitchen Sink at Beachs and Cream?
Ricky

Its not really the ice cream, its all the other stuff. Lets just say this - a whole can of whipped cream. Think about how big that is. Think about the fat :) (reddi whip is about 15 calories a TABLESPOON)

Of course then there is all the other stuff the load it down with as well.

Can it be done, of course it can. In all honesty I could most likely eat one myself if I skipped dinner. However I would rather splurge on something else, but thats just me.

BCV vs SSR

Just got back from SSR. Loved it . It was BEAUTIFUL. We are booked for BCV in Nov. We walked by and had breakfast at Cape May while we were there and weren't impressed with the grounds as much as SSR. I feel alot better reading these posts, but tell me why this is better.

location, location, location. Aside from the awesome pool, it is just so convenient to be able to walk on over to epcot at night for a snack or dinner. You can also hear or see the fireworks, and the whole feeling is just very intimate.

Yes, location is key. The whole Yatch/Beach Club - Boardwalk area is wonderful. And to be able to walk right out of the back of Epcot to your room is going to be a big plus.

Let me see, best things about the BC...

Yes, you can walk to Epcot. You can also walk to Disney Hollywood studios. (We never actually walked to the park but often walked back to avoid the crowds after Fantasmic. It's a pleasant 10 minute stroll even at a snails pace.) Be sure to rent a bike and pedal around the Boardwalk and Beach Club. Use that bell! They show movies on the beach and you can make s'mores. The pool is great, they organize games for the kids and even if you don't have any it's fun to watch. The lifeguards dance! You can see a lot of the fireworks from Illuminations from many of the rooms and most of the outdoor area.

We have been thinking about purchasing the Dining Plan, but am curious if with the free dining promotion going on will ADR's be hard to get? Do the changes in the Dining Plan this year diminish it's value too much?
