Trip Report Finally Back in Our Happy Place. A Three Week Trip With a Cruise Included

We’ve been back for just over a week from what was a wonderful three weeks. There were a few hiccups, but for the most part Disney World was just as we remembered it.

This trip was me and my two youngest daughters, Alice (18) and Lexi (15)

We stayed at Pop Century from July 7th-20th, then sailed on the Disney Magic from July 20th-25th, then French Quarter for the last three nights, July 25th-28th. For the Pop Century part of the trip we had the UK 14 day park tickets which included the waterparks.

The drizzle had stopped by now, but it was overcast and cooler than previous days so we decided it would be a good afternoon for a stroll around World Showcase. We were also in the mood for some ice cream so made France our first stop.

Unfortunately at the same time as a huge tour group of teenagers

Who all wanted ice cream as well

While we were waiting outside behind them all, I was starting to get a bit annoyed as extras kept joining them in front of us, but the queue was open sided so it was hard to stop them. Once we got close to a railing that would enclose the queue, a couple tried to get in front of us and I turned to them and gave a very firm ‘no’ and they backed off. I did also have to tell one of the boys in front to stop swinging round with his backpack because it hit me. He was very apologetic, and while the big groups can be a bit annoying, I know they are just a bunch of happy, excited kids probably on their first overseas trip without their parents. There’s just so many of them.

I liked the light fixture

It was worth the wait for my treat, an ice cream martini. There was a lot of the vanilla vodka in it, the glass stem was hollow and it was so full that I’d had to take a few sips before walking with it

To start Alice had Neptuna Tartare: Sushi Grade Yellow Fin Tuna, Avocado Crema, Mango Coulis, Edamame, Wonton Crisp, Yuzu Dressing which she loved

Lexi and I both had the Starry Calamari which came with Spicy Marinara and Roasted Pepper Citrus Aioli. This was very good calamari, no chewiness at all

For the main course Alice went with Space Pad Thai with Shrimp: Rice Noodles, Stir Fried Vegetables, Bean Sprouts, Crispy Tofu, Garlic Chili Crunchy, Sweet Soy Chili Sauce

Lexi had the Managala Roasted Chicken: Indian-inspired dish featuring spiced, marinated chicken, red pepper, carrot, tomato with coconut

I had intended to order the filet mignon, one of the reasons I’d booked dinner over the less expensive lunch, but I was in the mood for fish so ordered the Nebula Grouper which was very good

We were all quite full but dessert was included with our meals. I forgot to take menu photos and I can’t match our desserts to the online menus

Something lemony for me

Something chocolatey for Alice

And something that looks very sweet for Lexi

Lexi also had one of the non-alcoholic specialty drinks mostly because she wanted a glow cube

We all really enjoyed our food here, thankfully because it is very expensive with the fixed price menu. Because of the price it’s probably not something I would repeat often but I would make it an occasional reservation.
