Finally a vacation

Finally getting this report in. Kinda slow. Spent 7 days at Pop Century the second week of October.

:sohappy: Had an incredible time. Resort was great for what we needed. Rooms are not large, but we didn't plan on being in the room very much anyway. Love the icons and the decor.

Spent everyday making good use of park hopper passes. With these and the use of fastpass we didn't wait longer than 30 minutes for any ride. There were standby line times of 80 - 90 minutes for some rides that we saw. We would just by pass them and come back later. The other thing we used to make ride times short was EMH.

My DS was on the internet the night after we got back trying to see how much it would cost for us to return next month.

O.K. Now a little more detail.

Left Kentucky early Friday afternoon. Got into some traffic problems just past Atlanta and except for the rain had a good trip. Stopped in Ocala so we would be close to WDW for Saturday check-in.

Checked in around 9:30 Saturday morning. Our room wasn't ready, but the CM gave me a number to call later in the day in order to find out what our room number was. Thanks to some tips from forum members I had faxed in a building preference and found that they had accomadated my request.

Off to a park. The decision on which park to start in was really left to my DS-11. He is an amusement ride enthusiast. We finally decided that the best way to start was MK. Hopped on a bus and we were off. Getting to MK I just kept thinking about an episode of Family Matters where Carl Winslow stood in front of the gates in awe and said something like We're actually here. There is something about walking down Mainstreet USA when I first get there. WOW.

The castle looks great. I love the characters in gold around it. After much debate about what to try to ride first we ended up in Tommowland and were going to start with TTA. However we ended up by the entrance to CoP and there were people going in so we went straight in and sat down.

Not only did we start the vacation with the classic park we started with I think one of the classic rides. I hope that I never go to WDW and am not able to ride CoP. My mother-in-law rode this ride at the Worlds Fair. I love the classic rides because it makes me feel like I'm actually there. :sohappy:

From here we rode almost every ride except the mountain trio. My DS while a ride enthusiast has to be coaxed to ride a ride for the first time. I think the only rides that we didn't ride except the mountains were Jungle Cruise and PotC. The wait times for those two were just more than we were ready for.

I must say that we had an incredible first day.
