FINAL PUSH....

So we are in the final push before heading to the world. I feel like there are so many things I need to be doing and unfortunately have no energy at all to do them. I came down with a pretty rough sinus infection middle of last week, missed two days of work and basically have no energy to do anything but sleep. Thankfully Cadence is close to being completely packed. I have to wait until the last minute for my husband and myself because we have to wear our clothes up until the last minute. I want to make snacks in a Disney theme for the car trip down and also for my class before I leave. Not to mention, my Mom is throwing Cadence a My Little Pony birthday party this Saturday and I haven't bought a single gift and not sure when I will get to since she will be with me every minute between now and then.

What do you do in the final days before your arrival home?

I leave in exactly 1 week and I have been slowly packing since last week! Mostly little things - a jacket, a pair of pants, a pair of capri's, some of the Disney bows I got from ETSY, my costume for MNSSHP and all of it's accessories and a few tops have been thrown into a suitcase as possibilities. I also made a word document of everything I need to pack, need to buy at the store, etc.

The last time we went to WDW, the week before we left, my dad had to have his appendix taken out! For whatever reason, when we go on vacation, even if it's just up to see relatives for the weekend in the same state or if it's a different time zone, for the first day or two, I tend to feel sick or just feel "off". I have no desire to eat, i'm tired or I am starving but after 2 bites i'm full, so I try to be careful in what I do before and during those days.

@Jessica Meier ... same here... I used this weekend to do my 'before trip' cleaning. Well, anytime I detail the whole house, I manage to get enough dust up my nose to give myself sinus irritation. I've got 9 days to pull myself together, along with my classroom (they switched my schedule on Friday, so the new one starts today), and finish packing. I know I won't get it all done and I'm starting to learn to let some of it go, but it is a hard lesson to learn. Just do your best and then...RELAX and ENJOY WDW, your FAMILY, and the MEMORIES.

My mom drilled into my head that the entire house must be spit spot before you leave on vacation. So I spend the week before cleaning like a mad woman. In fact, if it weren't for my vacays, my dust bunnies would have dust bunnies. Of course there is always laundry to do, neighbors and teachers to notify, and the house to decorate for Christmas (we go at Thanksgiving so we like to return to a decorated, clean house). We also need to get together with my in-laws because my mother-in-law doesn't believe that we get a good Thanksgiving dinner while we are at Disney (we do at Prime Time). The last thing that I do is pack. I love to pack for vacation; it helps to put me in that Disney spirit as I plan all of our outfits and sing loudly (and badly) to a disney songs. That's another thing my mom taught me: plan your outfits for each day of your trip. I pack for myself, my 2DDs, and even my DH who hates to pack. The day of the trip, we only need to pack final toiletries, turn back the heat, turn on the floods, check to make sure everything is off and locked, and then we go. I won't even eat at home that morning; I am on vacation. I don't usually relax though until I am at PHL, through security, and waiting to board the plan. I can't wait for Nov.!

Feel a little better tonight. Got some packing done. Tomorrow will be getting our haircuts and then Thursday I will get Cadence's birthday gifts for her party bought and hopefully wrapped. Hoping that I can get some treats baked this weekend and finish packing. Gonna make a run to the Dollar store in the morning to pick up some things off the list and then to Sam's this weekend for snacks for the road.

I'm there now too. I've got 10 days. I've tried to plan things out over the past month and have done a pretty good job. I made packing lists in July and have slowly added things to mine and my family's wardrobes to make sure we have everything. I just ordered the last thing on my list yesterday (a rain jacket) for my son.

I went through all of the cloths for my kids and I on Labor Day to make sure we had everything. Yesterday, I printed off all of my lists/confirmations/etc, and put them in a manilla envelope for traveling. Now, I am in the process of making sure all of the bills are scheduled to be paid or already paid so that I don't have to worry about that while I'm out of town. And, I emailed the school/dance/daycare to let them know about the absences.

Now, I just follow through with things that I've already scheduled (i.e., hair cuts for DH and DS on Saturday), and start making a list of the items I need to get at the grocery store this weekend for traveling. I got some stuff already (sunscreen, children's chewable advil, etc.). But, I'll need other travel-size stuff and food for our fridge for breakfast. Then I spend next week carefully planning wardrobes so as to minimize last-minute laundry for the trip.

Have a good time!
