Final Day....

Sadly on our last day we always have to make sure we have time to get back to the airport. On previous trips we have managed to check our luggage in a Downtown Disney as we fly with Virgin, so this is one good thing. We usually just mill around then doing some shopping & have lunch before taking a very quiet drive back to the airport. Hate leaving anywhere but this is the worst place to leave as we are all so sad!

on our last few trips, we keep it open and make at attempt at all four parks!! we were able to do it in February. It was a lot of fun, but Im not sure I want to do it on our last day again this summer.

I think I want to try that this trip! We don't have to catch DME until around 5, and MK has early EMH that day, so I totally think it's doable.

great thread....for our last full day its always magic kingdom. We get there at about 9-930 and stay till wishes ends...for us Magic Kingdom is WDW at its core. We walk up main street, then go around the park clockwise starting in adventureland...All the classics are at MK so its fitting to leave MK and take that last look at the castle before we head to the busses....ill just stand there right before you go under the train tracks and just look at it all...the lights on main street, the balloons, the light up toys, and of course, the castle....its so hard to turn my head and walk out, knowing that it will be another two yrs (we go every two yrs) before ill get off the bus, fastwalk to the main gate and see that castle again...its funny how we spend so much time planning everything..we have countdowns that start in the hundreds, and once we get to our hotel and check in, it goes by in the blink of an eye, only to start the countdown all over...

The last day is usually a travel day (we plan our flights out late in the afternoon to maximize WDW time). Not enough for a park unfortunately - so it's usually a day at the resort or Village. Casual (but slightly hurried) shopping and dining is the norm.

I hate the last day... So I try to "soak it in" as much as possible, whatever I'm doing.

We typically try and get a late flight home so we can have the last day before DME pick us up to enjoy the parks. We always hit MK as the last park, be it that day or if we have an early flight, we make our last night MK.

How do you choose to spend your final day? We will check out of the Contemporary but have a full ticket day with Park Hopper for our last day. My parents will have left that morning so we really do have the day for just the 3 of us....right now just planning to do whatever we haven't had time to do the previous days there.
To start, I have a 16 year old autistic son. He lives for our annual Disney World trips. I can remember our last day, last minutes of our trip last year. We were leaving MK after fireworks, going to meet our bus back to the resort. Holding my son's hand, he yelled, "Good bye, Mickey; Good bye, Minnie; Thank you Sam!" (Sam is apparently someone who made a one of a kind impression). It was heartbreaking and at the same time a happy moment. You must understand that with autism some people, like my son, have trouble making complete sentences and sometimes try to communicate with just a word or two. Our last day is always cherished and it allows my son to say his goodbye his own way until the next year. We are leaving May 26th and will be on our way to say Hello to Mickey and Minnie once again. I hope and wish that everyone who goes to Disney World can appreciate the last day of their trip as much as their first day! ENJOY IT, PEOPLE.... ENJOY IT!
