I need a little help. I'm currently attending Brooklyn College in NYC getting a bachelor's in Film Production. To be as general as possible my lifelong goal has been to work on Disney movies. I've been inspired throughout life by the film's my annual family trips to the parks and it's been my goal for a long time. Not knowing much about Disney's CP would it benefit me to join it after my graduation? One thing I've heard is a possible concentration in Film and possible Disney Internships as well. Someone please help? :brick:

I'm a film student at UCF currently working for Disney. We don't do a whole lot of production in Orlando anymore (as far as Disney goes) but you can network, which I'm sure could help you get into the circle.

The CP is really great but you have to go into it with the right expectations. It is a fun work/college experience. I wouldn't suggest going into it expecting to gain anything in the Film business. You will work at a theme park or hotel and gain a small amount of experience in the hospitality industry. Yes the possibility exists you might meet a few people in the Film industry, but I think you would have a better chance of that working at a Starbucks in LA.

It's a good program but look at it more as a good life experience rather than something to propel a film career.

If you're looking for networking within the "artistic" arm of Disney, I'd look into the Professional Internships, specifically Creative/Design. The College Program is more of a fun summer job than a way to get ahead in your career. The Professional Internships are focused on career and skills development. If you're hoping to ever be more than an hourly "boot on the ground" with Disney, then the Professional Internships are they way to go. They're MUCH more likely to lead to full time, salaried employment than the CP.

Thanks to you both. I was a little confused, I thought you could choose to learn about Film in the CP but I see now it said some students join who are majoring in Film like myself. All in all I think it would help me in the long run, I believe the more experiences the better. Thanks for the help.

Good Luck! I am going to be studying film and hope to do the CP as well. Then again, my aspirations are to get an internship with TPP (theme park productions) in WDI, so working at WDW is probably a good idea anyway.
