This weekend, a cast member that works at the Imagination Pavilion said JIAM is not open on time . It seems that the cast members were originally going to get the ride on May 15. The rides control system is not in place right now. Beside that, she told me that the ride may open up late June.

I never heard that it was going to be open any earlier than June anyway.

I just saw today the old sign is down and the new one just has JIYI. It doesn't say coming soon or opening in the summer. I asked a CM about it and he said it should be open late May to early June.

(PLEASE say yes!) :(

Sorry Griz, but it doesn't look that way. We just got back yesterday from WDW and Imageworks was up, running, and doing a brisk business. BTW, the new laser-etched gold photo charms that they are doing very nice. I ordered one with our two kids on it for DW.

Gee, I haven't been to these boards in a looooong time. . . but anyways, would anyone know if they could possibly have a soft opening around late may? I'll be at Disney the last week of the month, so I was a bit curious.

Sort of Rock N Roller Coaster? Maybe, but this project is not so big. It's just a re-opening of basically what is supposed to be the same ride with some additions including Figment, not a grand-change like Horizons to Mission:Space, so I don't think they are going to waste their time in a soft opening, and will go directly to the real stuff.

Weird..

How could the ride control system not be in place?

Unless they took out the new system and replaced it, i don't see how this is possible.

From what I know, you can't do anything without the control system in place.. and they wouldn't even add vehicles to a system without it - there would be no hope for a June opening if this were true.

Perhaps no one in Ops has been schedualed to work on it yet? That would constitute a ride controller ;)

alright! everyone listen to a cast member that works in the neighbouring pavilion! they're working super fast on it right now :sohappy: , everyday when i walk by and peer in, there's always a lot of progress been made each day, as for on time, since i started here 2 months ago, late june has been the date, and that's still the date...cast member preview...they've always told me that they don't know whether or not one will happen...will it be ready if there was a may 15 preview??? no...will it be ready by late june? judging by my limited observations, most definitely with time to spare...

however mission space is a different story...boy are they ever taking their sweet time on that one!

Wannabe! I recognize you!

We have the same costuming window

Anyways, that aside... What I know about Space is that it's all there, they are merely finishing the fascade and going to start Testing soon. They don't want more TT problems.

My worst fear

My worst fear is that Mission Space will merely be a slightly enhanced version of their Virtual Space Mountain simulators of DisneyQuest fame...

If the simulators are similar at all, I will be saddened and infuriated about the loss of my beloved Horizons.

But then again... Disney has been able to surprise me all these years.

i really doubt that is what mission space is, disney is putting allot of money and time into this ride so im sure its something we have never seen before and is gonna be really good.

Well, the ride technology is made from the same company that built Cyberspace Mountain. I too doubt that MS will be much like that. From what is known, it seems that MS will more like a "souped up" version of Star Tours.

We know it will be a simulator. We know it will be based off of a centrifuge type ride system that can produce high positive g-forces and simulated negative g-forces. The rest is speculation.

$100,000,000 and 3 years of construction is an awful lot for anything like Cyberspace Mountain

Agreed. It does have some "big shoes" to fill though. Horizons was a state of the art (for 1983) E-Ticket. 15 minutes in length. Two Omni-MAX movie screens. Lots of AA characters. Many detailed sets. Uniquie ride system. Chose your own ending. And sort of the sequal to The Carousel of Progress!

I hope that Mission Space lives up to that!
