Hey there hi there ho there...
my wife and I are planning to hopefully return to WDW in the latter half of August. The fly in the ointment is our dog, a blg black lab who is 12 and is guilt-inducingly miserable in a kennel. We've kind of "used up" everyone who's taken care of him in the past, but I'm working on the glass-half-full theory and hoping family or friends will help a brutha, and sistah, and dog-guh, out.
Anyway, I'm thinking about splitting up the trip, and doing 6 nights in either BCV or WLV (occupancy permitting), followed by 3 nights in OKW. This will be the more laid-back part of the trip, where we'll spend more time poolside, taking whirlpool baths (meow) and of course, THE most romantic thing you can do at WDW...your laundry, with your own washer & dryer*.
The problem is, either of these scenarios will take 170 points. After borrowing from next year, I will have 168 points available.
Has anyone ever needed just a few points like this in the past? Is it better to see if someone is willing to rent you a few points, or is better to call WDW and offer to pay the balance of the points out-of-pocket? I don't know if WDW will truly only make you pay the equivalent of what a point is worth (for instance, if a room is $350 a night, do they consider 1 point to be worth $3.50, or will they jack up the price to 100 dollars or something?). But if I try to rent points, I don't know if I'll have to go through a third-party vendor, and what they'd charge for the service.
And of course, since SSR is our home resort, I'm fully aware we might not be able to get anything in the other resorts. Just wishin' and dreamin'
Any advice would be swell...thanks in advance.
*some of you will be saying "Hey, slappy, if you're going to spend more time in the 1 bedroom villa, you should spend THAT time in BCV or WVL, and not at OKW. They're the better resorts, more amenities, better locations, etc. etc." And I'm not arguing that. I had thought about spending 6 nights in OKW with a studio, followed by 3 nights in either BCV or WLV. It would only be 2 more points total. Only problem there is, apparently, NO studios in OKW have the option of a queen-sized bed and sleeper sofa. All studios in OKW have 2 queen sized beds. Considering that it's just the 2 of us, we'd rather have a studio with as much room as possible, hence using the 3 nights at OKW with a 1BR, rather then the 6 nights in a studio. If I'm wrong, and OKW now has studios with 1 queen bed and a sleeper sofa, I'm all ears.
