Festival of Fantasy FP area on FP+?

FP+ parade viewing (for both Festival of Fantasy and MSEP) is on the inside northern edge of the hub. Right on the street so that the parade will pass between you and the castle.

I've never done it before, but I've researched the heck out of it. My understanding is that it's a rather large arc (about 150 degrees) across the north inside edge of the hub and that they strictly limit the number of FP+s granted for that area. As such, there's not only a lot of elbow room, but you might even be able to sit on the ground and move about in the FP+ viewing area.

Again...not my experience...just my understanding. If anyone else here has any insight into it, I'm sure we'd all love to hear it.
Is it fairly clearly labeled or is it one of those, "I'll have to ask a CM," sort of things?

I noticed it was available for my trip in 3 days, but I decided to just use another FP instead. if I change my mind I'll let you all know how it is!

I figured it out based on reports from others posted on other websites and blogs (Google helped me out a bit). On some of those, they posted screenshots of Google Maps with the FP+ area labeled.

Based on photos I saw, once you arrive the area is roped off with signs indicating it's for FP+ and there are CMs with tablet devices waiting to scan your MagicBand to grant you entry.

When I go on May 14th/20th, I'll take note of the FP+ area boundaries and report back here (unless someone else beats me to it). Of course, since I'll be busy having fun until May 21st, it may not be until May 22 that I post that info.

It was one of the three for me at least. Wasn't an extra.

Okay, thanks. Right now on 5/31, I have FP+ for BTMR, PP, and SM. I just rode PP in early April. So I can swap that out. But there's also (hopefully), 7DMT. So I would need to swap out another one for that.

Fortunately, with the shift to the rolling FP+ after the first three, I'll probably put FoF, 7DMT and one of the above in the first three. Save any of the other classic attractions for the rolling FP+ at the kiosks.

For a second there, I misread your sentence, "Mine just opened up this morning." For a quick beat I had false hope about 7DMT. Then I re-read it to mean your FP+ ("mine") just opened up.
:joyfull: Sorry!!! If it was the mine train you can believe that I wouldn't have quietly posted about it. I will be screaming it from the rooftops lol!

It just appeared as a FP+ option for me, for the first time, yesterday -- 7 days from arrival. (I've been checking every day.)

I'm 33 days out and FoF, Wishes, and MSEP all showed up today. I swapped out PP for FoF (rode PP earlier this month). So now my itinerary is:

Arrive WDW no later than noon.
1:10-2:40: BOG FP+ invite lunch (invite only. Doesn't count as one of the three choices)
2:45-3:30: FoF
3:40-4:40: SM
4:50-5:50: BTMRR

Now either SM or BTMRR will get switched out for 7DMT when FP+ becomes available.

It's funny to me how many people have the same FP selections (including me). Started with BTMRR, SM and PP. Got rid of PP for FoF. BTMRR will be the next to go if the 7DMT opens up in time for me to grab it. I'll be holding on to SM for dear life since the wait times seem to always be ridiculous for stand-by for that ride.

Haven't made up my mind yet. I'm looking at SM in my case. But remember you now have the rolling FP+ from kiosks once you use up your first three.

I know about that, but I also know that being there for the 24 hour event will probably mean the SM Fastpasses will run out that much quicker. Peter Pan I can always live without seeing. I have never really understood why the wait time is so long for that ride. I only ever rode it when I was at an EMH or something and there was a short (30 mins or less) standby.

I'm going the following weekend. Decided to skip the 24 hour event. So I'll have more latitude.

Yup, but it's my birthday and this is the first time I will have a chance to do some special event on the weekend of my birthday there, so going a different time really wasn't in the options this time around.

I definitely hear you on that. I was at WDW earlier this month for my birthday. Have fun and enjoy! Happy Birthday!

BMTRR, SM, and PP are my current FP's for June 1, and they're going to stay that way ;) if I had kids, it might be different... but the only way I'll use a FP for fireworks or a parade is if there happens to be last-minute spots left for it after I've used FP's for everything else I want that day.

I have done Fastpass + for all the parades and Wishes.. I say that Wishes is the best.. even though there is better places to watch it from. There is a spot behind the statue of Walt and Mickey (We call it the hump) that is the highest point in front of the castle. We REALLY liked the show from that vantage point.

The cool thing about the rose garden though is that you can spread out a blanket and sit down and watch the fireworks and have a great vantage to see the entire show. It is perfect with our little guy. One tip.. if you do decide to use Wishes for your FP+ you want to be near the left side of the garden. I always make sure I am first in line for it and book it for the left corner after they scan our wristbands.

Now if you are familiar with the show and just want a cool place to watch fireworks from.. BoG restaurant has to be the coolest panoramic view of them I have ever seen.. we really enjoy watching them from back there. Usually there is a guy there telling everyone where to look for the next set of fireworks too.. I think he works there but not 100% sure. From this vantage you can not hear any of the story or anything like that.. you also can not see the projection show on the castle.

Best spot on the entire resort to watch them from.. in my opinion is Top of the World in Bay Lake Tower. My buddy is a DVC member and took us up there a couple weeks ago.. WOW.. that is a great place to watch them from.. my favorite by far. California Grill in the Contemporary is cool as well.. but a little farther away.

Friday night we have FP+ for FANTASMIC!

I have never watched the entire show.. so am looking forward to it.. if anyone has any suggestions as to how early I need to be there I would appreciate it. I think I read like 30 minutes in one thread and then read you can get there right before the show starts in another.. so conflicting info on that one.

Would you be willing to mark on a map where the "hump" is? I think I know, but as I plan to watch Wishes in a couple of weeks, I'd like to apply your advice.

On another night of our trip, we have BoG ADR that should wrap up just in time for Wishes. I've been thinking that we might hang out there. Good to hear it's a great place to watch the fireworks.

I will try to figure out how to update the map once I get done with work today.. I leave in the morning for the park.. so if I don't get it done tonight it won't be until later next week. I just joined this site so haven't figured everything out just yet.
