Felt Like A WDW Newbie

I was at MK four times during our recent week at WDW, and every time we were walking from TL to Fantasyland, I would turn left at Cosmic Rays, which of course, leads you to the hub in front of the castle, instead of going straight past the Teacups, realize halfway through what I did, and turn around to take the right path, all the while having my DW and DD tell me "I thought you knew where you were going" :banghead:
Am I the only idiot sorta-newbie, or have other people done this, or maybe always think a certain attraction/restaurant/food cart is somewhere other that where it actually is? Keep in mind, this happened after having been to WDW twice before, and after having religiously studied the layouts of all 4 parks, especially MK.

When I first visited the MK, after spending years going to DL, I couldn't get the lay of the land around Liberty Square and Frontierland. Nothing seemed to be where I thought is should be, and I did a lot of wandering. Still had a great time, though!

The first time I visited EPCOT Center I led my family into the dead end path at Energys exit trying to get to Spaceship Earth.

It was my first visit....

We didn't know there was an actual ride in the "big white golf ball" at Epcot until our 2nd visit. And, we still haven't done the Ellen attraction, but I made a list of everything for our next trip in July to make sure we don't miss anything!

I often get disoriented in that area of the park. Especially now with 7DMT being plopped down in the middle of what used to just be a single path through FL. I also forget about that extra spoke from the hub to that area, where it comes out by the tea cups. The one you accidentally turned on.

And I REALLY get turned around at DHS. I can not walk straight from the park entrance to, say Mama Melrose. I end up on a road that goes way out of the way, and end up backtracking.

DHS is by far the worst laid out park. Don't blame you at all.

Epcot can be a bit confusing, because you do have the two dead ends at Energy and at The Seas, whereas at MK and DAK, there is a path that can lead you in a complete circle around the park for the most part. 26 years between trips to Epcot, and those dead ends were one of a few things I did not remember at all. I also didn't recall the two large "hallways" cut into both Communicore/Innoventions buildings to get to the FW attractions-might have been because I was too busy back in 1990 spending my time in Communicore to notice much else :D

I always get lost in AK. Everything around the tree looks the same to me.Been 13 times and last trip I finally walked to the left of the tree and was amazed I had never been down that road.

I get turned around in AK as well...though it's the part I've visited the least...so that explains it.

Don't worry guys...pretty soon DHS will be extremely easy to navigate.

I always found those small stairs off the DHS hub that lead you to Pixar Place to be kind of frustrating to find for a newbie. I'm looking at the park map thinking "So TSMM is behind GMR? How the heck do I get there?" lol

DAK is a bit confusing that way, cause you can kind of walk the complete circle around the park, or you can get to Africa, Asia, or Dinoland by taking the spoke of off Discovery Island, which kind of acts as the hub.

I go to WDW about once or twice a month for about four years straight now. On two occasions last year I was in deep conversations with the kids and totally missed a key turning point in the road.

First time. We were coming into WDW at Epcot Center Drive and I missed the turn north to head to MK. Next thing I know I'm seeing "See you real soon". I'm like (*&%&^$%^#^%$#^%$#^$^#$^$. So then have to turn around and enter WDW again. That one still cracks me up. Basically flew in and right back out. Kids were like huh?????

Second time. We were entering from Osceola Parkway and missed the north turn and ended up at AK toll plaza. That one was funny also, but not as funny as the first one.

But as far as in the parks. Yeah I feel that way sometimes when I'm looking for a specific food cart. Not so much lately though. I think sometimes they move them around just to mess with us regulars. LOL

If it messes up you regulars, just think of what it does to those of us who only pop by once every few years, lol. I had the hardest time finding the cart that sold the turkey legs in LS at MK 2 weeks ago, when I was sure of where I saw it 2 years ago.

Happens to a lot of us. I'm concentrating on something I want to do later in the day or I'm in such a rush to get somewhere that I miss a turn or my mind swears this is the way when it isnt. I think after youve been so many times you dont think you have to concentrate as much and you get too confident in yourself that you dont think you have to pay as much attention to where you are going. Then when you do misstep it brings you back down to earth and makes you refocus. The worst part is when DW says... I told you it was that way....:oops::oops:
