feeling a bit overwhelmed...

Hi everyone! We're heading to the World in just over two weeks. I've done some planning but not my usual amount. I've got ADRs booked and my husband and I have a planning date set for this weekend to check out menus for CS meals. I like to refresh my memory on that since we only go about every 2 years. Anyway...I've been reading the forums and fell a bit, well, scared of all the changes since we last went in early 2011. I don't understand FP+, or Next-gen stuff at all. Have I messed up not really knowing about it before now? Will our trip be effected by all this? l don't even know what will or won't be in place while we're there. Help please!

We go every year and I'm kinda scared of the changes since we were there in March. No worries though, it's all going to be good. We arrive March 1 and I've been surfing threads for two weeks trying to get caught up with it all.

There's been no official announcement for FP+ or any of that I believe, so I'd assume it won't be ready in two weeks.

Here's a few of my suggestions for CS restaurants:
MK- Cosmic Ray's, Pecos Bills, Columbia Harbour House & Be Our Guest (Never tried BoG, but it's new and I've heard good reviews so far)
Epcot- Sunshine Seasons, Liberty Inn
DHS- Staring Rolls, Backlot Express (the CS options for DHS are quite poor, IMO)
AK- Pizzafari (once again, the CS options aren't the greatest)

Just my opinions, and I hope I helped in your planning a bit! :)

Thank you! I actually mentioned Columbia Harbor house to DH yesterday because I've heard such good things about that restaurant on here. I can't believe all the years we just went and ate whatever we were close too..I remember thinking all there was for CS was basically burgers, hot dogs, or chicken fingers. :) So glad I started thinking more about that!

Calm down things should be nice and quiet by the time you get there. Check All Ears for menus.fast pass should be the same maybe pull some plans from the "unofficial Guide" ot Touring Plans relax and have fun.

We just came back [before the xmas rush] and none of the nextgen or fastpass+ stuff is in place. We did eat at the Diamond Horseshoe in Frontier land for the first time as a CS and really liked it. It may not be open when you are there - the CM told us it's only open at certain times of the year which is why we never ate there before. Good luck!

Thank you all for reassuring me. I feel better about the FastPass+ now. I'm not sure how I feel about it after reading about it, but I won't get into that in this thread. ;) I am glad I won't have to have it all figured out by the time I go. I've been reading through threads about RFID and I don't quite get that either...but I'm still searching the forums and reading more about it trying to understand.

DH really wants us to try BOG for a counter service (for various reasons we didn't make an ADR for it) but I'm thinking the lines might deter us from doing that. We might just play that one by ear. We have a 5 year old DD who would love it, but we're also doing Akerhaus, which I know she will love.

Another question: We're going to be staying two nights at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort on the front end of the trip. It's a long story, but we'll have all day on Sunday to explore. I know we can get to DTD from the resort easily, but anyone know if it is possible to get to the Boardwalk from that area? We will have our van but our friends are flying and not renting and we can't all fit in our van.

First, I don't think anyone is really going to understand FP+ until they use it. I'm just hoping they don't roll it out soon before my trip (hopefully June 2013). Otherwise I'll be lost, and others will too. And with the RFID thing, if you have any questions I'm sure CMs would be willing to help.

Second, you can go to DTD and then take a bus to Boardwalk and any other resort on property.

I thought about this, but since we won't technically be Disney guests, are we supposed to use the bus service? I was thinking it was for resort guests only. We'll be checking into POFQ the next morning so maybe I'm just being nitpicky, but I tend to be a rule-follower. :)

Well, technically, I suppose it's meant for WDW guests, but you're not checked for it. I'd do it, but you can just call me a rebel.

I am also a rule follower, but I wouldn't hesitate to park at DTD and take a bus to the Boardwalk.
Might I suggest Flame Tree Barbecue while you are at AK? We always enjoy eating there!

Thanks...maybe we will head to Boardwalk. I love that area, it's one of my favorites on Property. Flame Tree did sound really good to us too...but the way I've got our days planned we're planning to do AK the same day we have an ADR at Whispering Canyon. We're planning an early evening break at the resort before heading over to the Wilderness Lodge for dinner. The food sounded similar at the two restaurants, so I'm not sure we'd want to do both in one day. DH remembers really like the Italian sandwich at Pizzafari in AK...I barely even remember eating there! Our son was 6 months old last time we went so a lot of the meals are blurry for me.

Congrats on your upcoming trip! :)

I would suggest you visit the Disney Dining Blog for some QS ideas. There are great, in-depth reviews of a lot of WDW restaurants. Visit allears.net for a complete list of all the WDW restaurants menus...they are usually very up to date.

At DHS, I highly recommend Starring Rolls for the most awesome sandwiches and cupcakes that are outta this world! See my TR for photos http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...tr-a-trip-of-excess-sept-29-october-7.856147/

Thank you for the tip! I'm not sure how I've been on this site off and on since 2005 and I've never heard of the Disney Dining Blog. Ah...I must have just overlooked it. Anyway, I've been reading your TR and I'm really enjoying it. I will comment over there though. :) If we're at DHS for a QS meal we will have to check out Starring Rolls. We're having a TS lunch at Hollywood and Vine (the kiddos in our party range in age from 6 months-5 years and love Playhouse Disney) so I'm not sure if we'll still be in the park for supper.[/quote]
