Feedback on a few resorts please

So my family is planning a trip for my sister's high school graduation. We're looking at late June as our dates. We've previously stayed in a Fort Wilderness cabin and loved it. So we're putting that as an option for our next trip. We are also looking into Wilderness Lodge and Saratoga Springs as other options that kind of fit our price range. So for those who have stayed in one of these 3 resorts (or maybe stayed in all 3 of them) can you give me some feedback. Maybe some pros and cons? Maybe better resorts that can sleep 6 or more? Thanks in advance!

I would always go for WL above SS. I've never stayed at FW but I would like to one day - the place has a great feel about it but I imagine it's quite a different experience to staying at WL.

We have not been to WL, but have stayed at Fort Wilderness - a while ago - when the cabins were more "rv-like". There were 6 of us and I thought it was a little too crowded, but Fort Wilderness itself is a very nice place. Very close to Hoop-de-Doo if you are so inclined. :ROFLOL:

SSR is close to DTD; you can walk there if you wish. It is a very large resort and beautifully landscaped. They have a really nice big pool and a spa. Each section has its own pool area. The rooms are very nicely furnished. I think bus transportation could be a little better, but the resort is so large that maybe that is asking too much. There is also boat transport to DTD. There are two eateries - CS and TS. The restaurants at DTD are, of course, very close by.

Wilderness is close to the Magic Kingdom with a water launch to MK or the Contempary to catch a monorail to Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian or TTC and walk to the Poly. Saratoga Springs is close to Downtown Disney with a connecting water lauch to the Port Orleans or Old Key West resorts for resort hopping. I depends on location, location, location. Have a great trip.

WL has two queen beds in it. Saratoga has one queen and a pull out. I'm not sure what FW has, but depending on your group, some may not want to sleep on a pull out, I know I wouldn't.

SS is next to Downtown Disney as others have said. I'ver never stayed there so I don't know about the rooms. It is pretty, but I am afraid that it might be noisy as it's next Downtown Disney.
The WL is my hands-down favorite. It has the waterlaunch to MK. There is a waterlaunch to the Contemporary for easy access to the monorail. The Artist Point is FABULOUS. The beds are the most comfortable beds ever. Mousekeeping was great. I could go on and on. If you stay there, upgrade to courtyard view and ask for a room on the 4th floor or above.

I just helped a family of 6 plan their trip.

We looked at the cabins, dvc villas, all-star suite and getting 2 rooms at a moderate or value. In the end, they decided on 2 rooms at POR. They wanted something a little fancier than a value but not as expensive as the cabins or villas. With the general discount released for the fall, their rooms at POR came to something like $159/night I believe.

That does work out to be a little bit more expensive when compared to the cabins, but they felt the pros for POR were higher than they were for the cabins. They decided that having 2 bathrooms was more important than a kitchen, as they did not plan on eating at the room because they got the dining plan. When looking at pictures, they also preferred the look of POR. They are first timers, so they were bound to be happy wherever they stayed. I'm very excited to go with them in October!

Another concern they had, and you may be aware of this as you've stayed there before, is the distance from the cabin to the buses. Some people rent a golf cart, but I believe that is $49/day? They are flying into Orlando and were not planning on getting a rental car, so this additional cost made the cabins more expensive than 2 POR rooms. Good luck with your choice!

Yeah, pullouts aren't the most comfortable thing to sleep on. I know that FW cabins come with bunkbeds, a queen, and a murphy bed. Which isn't too bad. Are there any deluxe rooms at WL that can comfortably sleep 6?

I'm going to have to look into two rooms at a moderate. My family has never stayed at either of the Port Orleans so that sounds like a good option. And yes, the buses are kind of slow and annoying at FW. When I stayed there we ended up renting a golf cart for the last two days, but I would def agree that they are very pricey.

Wilderness Lodge regular rooms only hold four people. The Villas at Wilderness Lodge, on the other hand, can handle six people.

WL is a truly wonderfully themed experience and is closer to the magic than SS or cabins at Ft. Wilderness. I'd strongly recommend looking to see what a villa that sleeps six would run at the WL.
