Feb. 2018 discounts

If I book a room now, what are the chances are being able to take advantage of discounts when they are released? For example, if I book POR for three nights at rack now, and say, in October they release a 20% off room rates type deal, can I call and have the discount applied? What are the odds they actually allow it? I have read that there's only a certain # of rooms they allow to redeem discount. Just trying to have all the details before I either rent DVC points for a deluxe, or book at moderate at rack and use the discount that, in theory, should come out eventually. Thanks!

If you book now and a discount comes out later for your resort and room type then yes you can call and they will apply it. However, just fair warning POR is usually not included with room discounts because of its popularity. Hope this helps.

Disney might "include" a given room type, but only a certain number of them can have the discount applied. If OP misses the discount announcement, that inventory might get scooped up before he has the chance to apply it even if the resort and room type are included in the promotion.

riverside is usually included in discounts, but french quarter is not. however--it's typically royal rooms that are offered at a discount, and they are more expensive to start with. so if you book a standard view room, a royal with a discount will still come out to more, or around the same.

I've booked multiple reservations at different resorts before when I wasn't sure where I wanted to stay....you can typically cancel room-only reservations 6 days before or so without penalty and you'll get your deposit back.

Discounts may be out in October or November, but they typically only cover the first of the year (January). Feb of 2017 was hit or miss with deals....the prices were actually quite high compared to January discounts this year from my trips. For reference, in February, I stayed at Coronado and the discounted rate was $175. The same discounted preferred room in May was $155. Book early and keep checking back for deals.
