Trip Report Feb 2015 - When there's a smile in your heart!

Warning: This is at best an amatuer's trip blog. No beautiful pictures of scenery or food. No in depth analysis of ride updates. Not even any pictures of the castle (how did i miss taking that!?!?) Just some heart felt atedotes of our amazing vacation and a ton of pictures of my two rugrats! Enjoy

We just recently got back from our absolutely WONDERFUL Walt Disney World vacation. We stayed at the POP Century Hotel from Feb 25th to Mar 3rd. On the Trip was my wonderful, amazing, patient husband and super-dad, Scott, myself and our two awesome kids, Grace 4 1/2 and BenBen 2 1/2. Hope you enjoy reading our trip-report as much as i will enjoy writing and reliving it!!!

Day 1 : A whole lot of Travel

Our flights were out of LaGuardia (NY) at 6:30 am that morning, so the prior day we had driven down to my parents with all our luggage. Well of course the kids were all riled up seeing their grandparents and knowing that they were going to WDW that that night we all BARELY got any sleep. ( Remember the I'm too excited to sleep commercials back in the day- yeah, like that) So, the day of the flight, we all woke up around 4, packed our last minutes, got the kids dressed and my dad drove us to the airport. Check in and boarding were seemless. Did our kids sleep at all on the plane? Of course not!!!!. Hopped up on pixie dust, sugary breakfasts and TV, they were on cloud 9. We arrived at MCO 20 minutes early, which was wonderful and headed towards the DME. They scanned our bands and a bus was waiting for us - NO LINES!!! The driver took our carry-ons and away we went!

Now I'm sorta a sucker for a good trip report, and I had the best intentions of taking as many quintesintial Disney pictures as possible so I really really wanted to get the WDW welcome sign picture. I had my camera ready to snap away and then ding ding ding! I get a text message from Disney saying that our room was ready and that we could go straight to our room. Yeah! Room ready! Boo ! No picture. Pop was the second stop after AoA - we had stayed at AoA before and had loved it, but it didn't make sense to stay in a suite this time around. When we arrived at Pop, we heading directly to our room. It was on the 3rd floor in the 70's Mickey telephone building. For a place to crash in between parks, we were quite happy with it.

We get to the room, drop all our stuff - WAIT-WHERE"S MY PURSE?!?!?! oh man full panic - it wasn't with us. I was holding both mine and my daughter's carry on that I must have left it or dropped it somewhere. (and OF COURSE my purse was the one carrying our Disney visas, my debit card, ID's and about $300 in gift cards:confused:) OK try not to panic. Trying to keep calm, I tell Scott to ready the kids for the parks while I go to the front desk and figure this out. Long story short, front desk sends me to luggage claim who radios the driver of the DME bus who HAS MY PURSE. phew. The DME driver loops around back to Pop and I get my purse back. Oh man...what a relief:happy:

By the time I got my purse back, Scott and the kids had met me in the lobby. Then this conversation happened
"Umm Scott, Where's the strollers?!"
"Oh, I left them in the room. We're traveling light today..."
"Seriously?!?"
" Yeah, if the kids need a break, I'll carry them"
Ahh...famous last words :):)

The plan was DHS. We had FP's for the Anna and Elsa Singalong, TSMM, and StarTours. My plan was to eat lunch at Starring Rolls. When planning, we were originally debating skipping DHS all together and making this a MK instead. However, my daughter has become super obsessed with the Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins, so how could we NOT go on TGMR, right?? To Hollywood Studios we go!!! We head straight for the Great Movie Ride and with only a 20 minute wait we were on in no time. The kids loved it!! THey were totally engrossed in every scene, my BenBen was waving at the Munchkins. I was so glad we did that ride first. It was noon time my the time we got off the ride and we were hungry!! BenBen was making a fuss that he really wanted french fries. OK OK, ABC Comissionary we go. THe place was a zoo, so Scott took the kids to get a table while I got the food. Wait, you need a pin code?!?! lol - we had done the automatic check in and never went to the front desk. I had completely forgotten about this from our last visit! Well I had just waited on line and had what I thought was two very hungry kids waiting for food, so I changed my order around a little and paid out of pocket:facepalm:

I bring all the food back to that table AND LOW AND BEHOLD.... Gracie is sleeping. Ladies and Gentleman who stuck through all the wordyness of this trip report, I give you our First Picture Of Vacation!!!!

There you have it... OUT COLD. All the excitement and traveling and being awake caught up to her.

BenBen enjoyed her portion for her

And Scott ate crow along with his meal. OK, So now what do we do? We are not singing to Let it Go with out Grace, nor going on Startours or TSMM with a sleeping kid. Oh and we have no strollers to push her in:rolleyes: OK, let's head back to the resort and all rest before dinner tonight.

Leaving the park after one ride and an out of pocket meal .
On our way out the citizens of Hollywood were out in full force. We figured to stop and watch them for a minute - after all, we had only spent an hour at the park and weren't going back. The police officer character was pulling guests for participation. He got one woman who was supposed to me the "mom" in a movie. She was laughing awkwardly and was overly embarrassed. Her family was videotaping and laughing at the scene. THe police officer was really hamming it up and hugging her. With his arm around her, he prompted her to say her line. Instead, laughing, she said, "I'm Muslim, you're not supposed to be touching me." EIK, poor guy turned bright red, but the show went on. THe entire crew handled it like CHAMPS. lol - it was def a more memorable performance for everyone I'm sure!

Anyway... Good bye Hollywood Studios!!

Back to Pop we go!!!
Bye DHS!!!

This is a great report. Ben reminds me so much of my son Luke, who is about 3 1/2 now. I can totally understand the pouting because you didn't get a red car at Tomorrowland Speedway. Nothing like having people behind you waiting while you try to explain to a toddler the virtues of driving a yellow car.

We're hoping to take our family down in November, and you've confirmed my commitment to go to Tom Sawyer Island. Looks like there is so much to explore there.

Great day at Magic Kingdom. All of the pictures were super cute with all the characters. The ride pictures tops them off at how adorable the kids are. Following along.

Great trip report! Who would even guess that you are an amateur?! ;) Your kids are so stinkin' cute, and in fact look like they could hide out in the "Dolly Ride" -- I loved that name by the way. When my kids were younger they used to call IASM the "Happy Puppet Ride!" Ah, the things these cuties come up with! I really think that these years at Disney are some of the absolute best as everything is still so magical for the little ones. Of course, there are concessions to be had, such as the trade off's for the big kid rides, and naps whenever they happen, but it's all happiness gravy!

That's too funny about Tom Sawyer"s Island. I have not been to WDW as many times as you have, but enough times where I could have made it there at least once, but alas, that was not to be. I think that will be on my bucket list for next time!

Can;t wait to read some more, so keep it coming!:)
