@real mad hatter...fried gator is one of those florida things you have to leave orlando for lol. while i was growing up my dad had his own restaurant so as kids he made us try everything and while it's not my thing it's a very lean meat so it's often fried.

Ok,scared to ask deep fried gator ?

Well there is a big state college in Tallahassee and our main rivals happen to be another state school whose team happens to be the Gators so folks here love frying up some alligator meat (they are everywhere here anyways) and putting it on a stick like a kebob. Apparently it's a great way to show school pride. They tell me it tastes like chicken. I have never and probably will never eat this.

Crush you are a much braver eater than me! I've heard tales of the rural folks eating squirrel if you want a real Southern American cultural experience.
I am definitely classified as a picky eater, but DH has confirmed that it does in fact taste like chicken but he's only had it once.

I must admit that I have eaten squirrel. It did taste like tough chicken.

I now consider squirrels to be overgrown rats with bushy tails, so I think I would pass on eating it again.
