Who's your favorite LOTR character? Mine's Gandalf. His battles with Sarumon and the Balrog were the best parts of the first movie, IMHO.

(I wish it were a Disney movie so they could build a LOTR land at Disney World. A mini of Middle Earth.)

Now THIS is my kind of discussion! :D it's so hard to pick just one from the Fellowship...i love them all for different reasons (my least fave two would have to be Gimli and Boromir) i'd probably have to say my fave is aragorn. i just love his ruggedness and loyalty...not to mention how romantic he is! :animwink: i love the hobbits for their innocence and bravery (frodo being my most fave, sam being my least). i love gandalf for his wisdom and courage (to elaborate, his willing to sacrifice himself for the good of middle earth). i also love the elves for their wisdom, as well as their serenity. i'm tellin ya, i could go on and on about this...bottom line, i just love the fellowship! i loved their togetherness and how they always pulled together to defend themselves as well as each other. and i think the actors' offstage chemistry really added to their roles. i'm not sure how much i'm going to like two towers now that they're split up...everyone who knows what's going to happen tells me i'll like it just fine...but to me, that's what made Fellowship of the Ring so great was the fellowship and how they bonded while defending the freedom of middle earth. to me it just made the movie a really personal thing...it was sort of like i was on the journey with them; like i was part of the fellowship. now that there's going to be big battle scenes and lots more characters, i don't know if that personal feeling will still be there.....i'm hoping it will be, but i'll see if it is this saturday. :)

Two hours and I get to see Two Towers. I know it'll be great.

DPhreek, I think Gimli is great. Probably stinks to high heaven and you can almost smell his breath coming from the screen. But if there ever was a dwarf in Middle Earth I'm sure he looked and talked like Gimli in the movie.

My vote will always be with Gandalf, though.

Wait til you see Gimli in Two Towers. He's hilarious.

I can assure you the personal feelings are still there. Although the Fellowship is not all together, their relationships persist and some of them strengthen.

aw, thanks for the reassurance, dreamer! i'm so excited! i FINALLY get to see it tomorrow! i swear, this has been the longest week!

i saw one preview where aragorn, gimli, and legolas are surrounded by these guards (not sure from where...i wanna say Rohan, but that could very well be wrong) anyway, the head guard mentions how he could easily cut off the head of a dwarf but they're too short (or something to that effect) and legolas draws his bow and say something kind of like 'you'll have to get through me first'. omg, the look on gimli's face is pricless! it looks like he's thinking 'oh God....here we go!' :D
but yeah, i've heard that there's quite a bit of comic relief in this movie (and according to my cousin, who was a fan of the books before the movies came out, maybe a little bit more than there should've been. but of course, he said it was wonderful none-the-less!)

WOO HOO! within 12 hours, i'll be in the theater watching it!! :D

btw, i used to be a regular on the official lotr fan club message board....this one person on there wrote a parody to lotr called Quest for the Pizza Ring of Power. omg, it was the most hilarious thing i've ever read! has anyone by chance heard about/read this? i saved part of it, but i lost track and never got to finish it (the person wrote/posted it in sections...seems like i got up to 5 sections, then i just lost track) i'm gonna have to find it and read it again...it was just too funny!! :D

This line was great. I wonder if they ad libbed it. It seemed like they were having a lot of fun with this movie.

Although Gandalf is my favorite, I have to say I like Legolas second. For some reason I don't like Aragorn much. I think he is a great character -- it's just his personality and mine sort of clash. I like the way Legolas is so silent, yet carries a deadly bow.

What is there to say about Frodo. I don't know if I could list him or any of the Hobbits. They are in a class by themselves!!

I'm thinking of going to see it again tonight. Just deciding if I want to be tired all day at work tomorrow, and then we're driving to Memphis on Tuesday.

Hroom-Hoooom!

My favorite character from the books by FAR was Treebeard!

I saw LOTR Two Towers last night, and this movie was FANTASTIC!:sohappy:

My only criticism, and I think this is just a factor of being able to fit all of Tolkiens rich detail in under three hours, was that they did not develop the relationship with Treebeard that well.
In the book, they go to his house, and spend a great deal of time learning about the Ents and the Entwives, Entings.
I wanted to see representation of the Entings and Entwives!

Oh well...I still give it a solid 9/10.

GO SEE IT!

Let me get a vote in for Merry and Pippin (who are inter-changeable). The adventures they go through and the growth of their characters (literally)and their role in restoring the Shire have always appealled to me (I am speaking here more of the books than the film). Too bad that the rumors are that Jackson has left out the scouring of the Shire in the third film. Oh, well, he left out Tom Bombadil, too...:veryconfu

He's left that out of the third?

Does that just mean he's stopping with the ring being destroyed, or will he show what happens to the charcters afterwards?

By contract, Jackson had to keep the movie "short." In the extended version DVD, there will be more about Treebeard -- from what I've heard.

If they had tried to cover everything, they would have lost the majority of the audience and probably done the books a greater disservice at the same time. There will never be anything to match the experience of reading the books -- it would be foolish to try to accomplish that.

But I agree the movies are incredible!! I just so Two Towers again last night and enjoyed it even more the second time.
