Favorite Classic EPCOT memories

My first visits were in the 80s and I remember originally hating Epcot, but then enjoying it more and more as I got older. The attractions were fun b/c they were all lined up right in a row and you just hopped from building to building. Absolute favorite was Journey into Imagination, of course, that ride was like a little kid's dreams--so fun! My parents didn't like Epcot either initially, but it has since become our favorite park (not b/c of the new stuff--but b/c of world showcase).

My parents enjoyed Epcot Center b/c, if I remember correctly, it was FREE for them to enter as registered teachers!! That was pretty cool.

The Horizons-GE corporate lounge. I miss that place so much.

I miss the scrolling marquees on the outside of the Communicore buildings. I miss Communicore (and Centorium) itself. The original Land pavilion. The entrance fountain. The World of Motion and the original TransCenter. Horizons.

I just miss the way things used to be. :(

The year EPCOT Center opened, some family friends brought me back a stuffed Figment. At the time, my father and the family friends all worked for a company owned by Kodak, and I loved having my very own Figment. By the time I got to visit for the first time myself, it was the late 80's. My favorite memories are of the original Journey into Imagination, complete with Figment and Dreamfinder and the wonderful original songs and colors and creativity. What I wouldn't give just to ride the original just one more time. I also miss the pavillion symbols and the EPCOT Center symbol that used to be everywhere and the clear sculpture near the front entrance.

Also, WoL is probably not completely "classic Epcot," but I loved riding the Wondercycles and seeing Cranium Command. "Where do you think you are, Disney World?" I can remember running to Body Wars the way people run to TT and M:S today (I assume there's a mad rush for Soarin' as well, but I haven't been there to experience it myself just yet ;) ).

Captain EO
I was so scared of this show when I was little. I can still remember the characters and the music. I loved MJ when I was a kid.
