what building or buildings in walt disney world impress you the most? whether it be the entire building or the little details that make it special. pick one or pick a bunch. just curious.
i'll pick one from each park:

MK: Cinderella's Castle
not only does the outside of this castle amaze me but the
tile murals in the walkway are simply unbelievable

EPCOT: Spaceship Earth
i think this one explains itself.

MGM: The Hollywood Tower Hotel
outside appearance but mostly the small details that make
everything look old when it was brand spankin' new

AK: Tree of Life
tree carvings and thousands upon thousands of individually
placed leaves speak for themselves

Holy crap! I just realized with the exception of Tower of Terror I picked all of the park icons. I guess thats why they're the park icons, huh?:hammer:

Top five i.m.h.o.

1) Spaceship Earth (would prefer the sign be removed... I think everyone knows it's "Epcot")

2) Harumbe Village (DAK) Incredible detailing. Also, while it's "natabuilding", would have to give an honorable mention to DAK landscaping. Hard to believe that every tree and shrub was planned and planted in that park. At one point during construction, there was nothing but sand everywhere.

3) Splash Mountain... exterior, inside queue, loading area and the ride itself.

4) Wilderness Lodge lobby and pool area

5) Contemporary Resort... ahead of its time.

I love everything about the Contemporary, the exterior, the interior, the big mural on the elevator shafts.

I love everything about Main Street, everything is so detailed and perfect.

And ToT is jaw-dropping, it's amazing. I still stare at it for long periods of time while walking, which causes me to bump into complete strangers.

ooo...a topic i like (being an enviornment designer)

In MK...tommorowland...no question. It is done so great with no detail overlooked...they took a wonderfull idea and brought it to life..and at night the neon is just so stunningly beutifull...

Epcot...I'll stay away from spaceship earth for now...since obviously its a marvel..and i will go directly to the world showcase. They really recreated all the countries very nicely, and with "limited space"...

MGM...tower of terror..without a doubt..is the TOP marvel in all of WDW. The themeing is unsurpassed and was definatly a project that raised the bar for all that will follow...

AK...I think Asia is the best themed land. They really went the extra mile to make everything look old and beat up...adding rust..dents...chipped paint (no..these are all NOT signs of lack of maintenence..they are supposed to be that way)...really a nice job...

Spaceship earth (duh) and the UK .. I love that pavillion. France is great as well...

The Castle. It's gorgous and has such detail...

NOT the Hat at MGM *has issues with the hat*... I think I agree with the others who say ToT (even though that ride is traumatic for me lol)

and last.. I think... The Polynesian.. I love hte way it was designed.

Pirates of the Caribbean.

The queque area is so detailed..right down to the smells.

And when I'm on the boat...and I go into that room where the Giant Ship is...I feel like I'm really outside at night. It still amazes me after all the times I have ridden it.:)

I'm impressed by Cinderella's Castle, the Tree of Life, and the Hollywood Tower Hotel......but the site that most impresses me when I see it in person is Spaceship Earth.

Ive never really thought the castle was that cool. Sure, its neat looking and all, but it doesn't even come close to Spaceship Earth, which really is an architectural marvel since its one of the oddest buildings in the entire world.

I know this is a WDW Thread, but my all-time favorite is the Team Disney Building (I think that is what they call it) at the Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. The buidling with the big dwarfs holding up the Roof. That buidling is the epitome of Disney Architecture. I was in Burbank once on business and went over to the studios. Teh building is very close to the main entrance and I asked the guard if I could just walk over in front of the building to check it out. He let me. You have to see it in person to appreciate it.

Back to WDW (Excluding the Park Icons):

MK - Fantasyland Theming -

EPCOT - The Land From the Inside. Cool Atruim, Colors, Balloons, etc.

AK - Queue for Safari

MGM - TOT and Rock & Rollercoaster (The Guitar neck turning into a track)

Downtown Disney - Cirque de Soleil & The Disney Store

Blizzord Beach

My favorite architectual marvel is definitely spaceship earth, but my favorite buildings are the ones that make up the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian.

1) Animal Kingdom Lodge
2) The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
3) The Tree of Life
4) Frontierland
5) Blizzard Beach
6) Cirque du Soleil
7) basically the rest of Animal Kingdom--except Dino-Rama...although I like the area, it is by no means an architectural wonder...
8) Wilderness Lodge
9) Coronado Springs
10) Cinderella Castle--I especially like the new work it received after they reversed that disgusting Castle Cake work...it ALMOST made it worth having the Castle Cake for a year! I think the new lighting making the castle continually change colors at night as VERY kewl...I absolutely LOVE it...disney does wonders with lighting...like I also absolutely love the purple lighting of the Tower of Terror at night--really sets the proper mood.
