Father's Day Weekend

Hi, My brother and I are going with our father to WDW on Father's Day weekend. This will be our first Father's Day since my mother passed away last July from cancer.

I'd like to find out advice on a special place to bring him for either dinner on Saturday June 18 and/or breakfast on Sunday June 19.

Also, are there any special events at WDW in celebration of Father's Day?

We arrive on late on the 17th and depart late on the 19th so its a really quick trip. We're staying at the Polynesian, but I dont think we will want to do the luau show.

Staying close to the resort I would strongly suggest O'hanas. It is a wonderful all you care to eat meal with a Polynesian flair. The main dishes are Sirloin Steak, Turkey breast, Tiger Shrimp and Pork Loin. All are excellent and the restaurant itself is just wonderful!!! Belle

If cost isn't really an issue, I would suggest going to Artist's Point at the Wilderness Lodge. It's very easy to get there from the Poly (either go to the MK and take the launch from there or walk over to the TTC and take the bus to the WL).

DH and I ate there last March, and we both came to the conclusion that it truly is one of the best spots to eat on property (and, bear in mind, one of the main reasons why we keep going back to WDW is for the food). While it is an expensive restaurant ($120 for the two of us, with an appetizer, entrée and dessert each, including tip - no booze because we were on the Silver Plan), it was a very memorable, unique and above all special meal.

While I agree with Belle that O'Hana's is a wonderful place to eat, if you're looking for something that is a little bit more quiet (And all-you-can-eat isn't a prime consideration), then I would really encourage you to go to Artist Point. Plus, if you haven't been into the WL before, the wow factor when you walk in there can't be beat!

One of our favorites is California Grill on top of the Contemporary. We always save it for our last evening at Disney. It's a wonderful spot to watch the fireworks from MK as well.

Another recent favorite is Jiko at the AK Lodge. It has a wonderful meal and wonderful decor.

Both are pricey but well worth it.
