Usually there's a cast member standing at the machines keeping track of everyone. I doubt very much that Disney has gone to computers yet.:hammer:

it was my understanding that the rides that are Fast Passed are linked to a database that runs in realtime. When you stick your ticket in the information off the mag strip (the little black bar on the back) is taken and held (time stamped) for that period of time your pass is for. I have tried to cheat the system to be honest with you just cause I am a tech geek and I wanted to see if there was aloop hole.

I found one loop hole one time at Inoventions that caught a CM's attention. It was in regards to their intranet access I was able to get out to an external site (a movie info site). Though not I was then unable to go beyond that site (firewall caught me) I still got out. I explained to the CM how I did it next time I came to Inoventions it was fixed.

Anyways I will be there Saturday digital camera in hand for COP

it has to be computerized somehow because we got a fastpass at space mountain but it wasnt for 4 hours or so later so we ended up going to epcot before our fastpass time. at epcot we tried to get a fastpass for test track and it wouldnt let us because it said the one which we had to sm hadnt been used yet. i love the fastpass idea but dont understand why if you had one for one park you cant get one at a different park:hammer:

All fastpass's in all parks are linked to a centralized computer network that prevents you from getting more than 2 at a time even if you park hop.

Does anyone know what the FastPass rules really are? Disney constantly seems to tweak them...

...here's what worked well for us during the summer...

You can get another fastpass as soon as the START time on your current fastpass has expired....

...but there is another rule about elapsed time that I'm not sure about....example, if it's 12pm and you get a fastpass for 7pm, the system allows you to get a another fastpass after two or three hours has elapsed.

Maybe Steve or one of our CM forum members can find out for sure.

I'm pretty sure that it's after 2 hours...

This is how FastPass worked for us during our recent trip (December 25 - December 30).

The Dinosaur Ride was so busy that when we went up to the fast pass terminals, the people working them did not require you to put your ticket in the machine, they just asked how many we needed and gave them to us by pushing a button on the back. Well after we got those fast passes, my daughter and I went to a different terminal and got more passes for 30 minutes later than the first ones we got. Then we went to It's Tough to be a Bug and put our tickets in and received fastpasses for it. We were in possession of two fastpasses for Dinosaur and one for It's Tough to be a Bug at the same time. I personally love the fast pass!!!! We always use the fastpasses and if you know how to "work the system" you can see alot more while you are there. The average wait time in lines were 60 - 120 minutes and we never waited more than 15 minutes for the popular rides with the fast passes. It was pretty crowded while we were there, but I am ready to go back.

We bought the special Florida Resident Annual passes with the extra 100 days so mine doesn't expire until April 4, 2003!!! What a deal!!:sohappy:
