FastPass+ without staying on Property?

My daughter is going on a school trip to Disney the last week of December. I know it's going to be crazy busy and was hoping she could get some FP+. Since their group isn't staying on Disney property they wont get a magicband. Has anyone went to the parks lately that just had regular tickets and gotten fastpasses? Can they get them ahead of time or will it have to be at a kiosk in the parks? o_O

There are still legacy (paper) FP machines in the parks. If they are still in operation when she gets there, that will be her only means of getting Fastpasses. Make sure she knows that they run out faster than they used to, so she'll have to pull them earlier in the day than was necessary in the past.

Unfortunately, as an off-site guest, she won't have the chance to reserve FP+, or to make any other FP arrangements ahead of time. WDW is still "testing" FP+ (and likely will continue for several more months in the testing phase), and is doing so exclusively with onsite guests.

Current rules. No Disney resort no FP minus.

I recently made a call to DVC to rearrange our resort reservation, and we found ourselves chatting about FP+. I mentioned to the extremely kind CM that I am not too keen on the newer system, especially being limited to 3 FP selections per day AND only at 1 park per day; she replied, "Well, you can always supplement your FP+ selections with paper FP's." Say whaaa? I told her I read somewhere (here) that paper FP's could be a thing of the past, to which she enthusiastically replied, "Oh they better not! There are a lot of Florida residents who like to pop-in, not to mention the many guests who stay off-site. If they do get rid of paper FP's, Disney is going to lose a lot of customers." I thought this was very interesting coming from a CM.

But to actually answer your questions, another poster said it: paper FP's are still available, but apparently they go really quick in the morning. And unless you're staying on-site, no Magic Bands and no access to the FP+ reservation system.

Well, as for the getting rid of Paper FP tickets, it will happen eventually when they expand MyMagic+ to non resort guests. Non Resort Guests won't get MagicBands standard, just using standard RFID plastic tickets. However, that won't happen for a long while, as Disney is firmly still in testing phase with the resort guests, so Paper FP tickets will remain for that time.

Though that castmember you spoke to journ seems unaware that they are starting to limit who can get Paper FP with a Key to the World card. Pop Century just went MagicBand only and if guests request a Key to the World card, it will have access to paper FP cut off, I think.

Using the legacy fast pass, even with integration of FP+ had had not made the paper FP system and different than before. On our stay last week mostly all Paper FPs were available usually for about an hour or 2 later, with the exception of the usual TSMM, soarin, and test track. Which have always Ben hard to get good times for FPs even before the addition of fp+. You should be good to go! No one knows for sure what will happen and if the paper FPs are going or staying. Until Disney says something about this, all the rest is just speculation, which a lot of people on here think they will go away, but for now, if u are staying on property utilize both while you can! They are starting to test giving guests no more KTTW cards...
