FASTPASS+ Question (Sorry!)

Does anyone know of a guide book or website that has updated FASTPASS+ information?

I'm guessing a website would probably be more up-to-date. I'm looking for something that explains how it works, what I need to do to set it up, etc. Thanks in advance!

Because it is all changing so fast I don't think there are any guidebooks that will be able to give you the most up-to-date information. I'd be happy to help you. Just need some more info.

Are you staying on property?
Does your package (if you have one) include tickets?
Does anyone in the party have a My Disney Experience Account? If so, how many?

Great links, thank you!

I am trying to go for Christmas 2014. Want to rent DVC points. Have to wait for 6 month window, but will be onsite somewhere. I will be getting tickets, but not sure if it will be part of a package since we are renting points. I have an account, but I am the only one of the four of us (me, wife, 2 children) that does.

6 month window? It's actually 11 months and 7 months. (At 11 months, members can make reservations at their home resort; at 7 months, they can make reservations at any DVC resort.) You're already within the 11-month window, so if there's a particular DVC resort and villa category you want, you need to get your rental set up now. (If you are going through a reputable agent like David's DVC Rentals or DVC Rental Store, they'd be happy to arrange it for you and answer any questions you have about the process. You pay more per point that way, but your transaction also has an added level of security.) Some details here: http://www.dvcrequest.com/how_soon_should_i_reserve.htm

If you rent DVC points, you can't get a "package" with tickets included. Rather, after you have a room reservation and link it to your MDE account, you can buy tickets from Disney, Undercover Tourist, etc. and link those to the account. If you want the dining plan, you'll have to have the member from whom you're renting set it up for you. You'll typically have to pay the full amount for everything up front, and your reservation cannot be cancelled. (We purchase trip insurance to cover our costs with a DVC rental, in case an emergency causes us to have to cancel our vacation at the last minute.)

It's actually simpler if you remain the only one in the family with an MDE account. Add the rest under "friends and family" and you'll be able to link their tickets to them, manage ADRs and Fastpasses for the whole group, etc.

Yes, I meant 7 months. A very nice lady at DVC Rental Store looked in to the home resort possibility for me in January to no avail. She is continuing to check and is going to let me know if those points come available before the 7 month date. At that point, she is going to try to get me booked in my chosen resort.

Thanks so much for all the tips. This was exactly the kind of information I needed. We are Disney veterans, but have never rented points and haven't been since the My Disney Experience rollout.
