Fastpass Plus needs tweaking?

Ok, I have to say that in the case of some attractions, I believe that Fastpass Plus is just not meant for the ride type or WDW needs to address the way Fastpass Plus is employed.

In regards to attractions with double or multiple loading capabilities (Big Thunder, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Flight of Passage, Soarin, e.g), these attractions seem well suited to Fastpass plus. The wait times, now, with Fastpass Plus are about the same as before fastpass; however, I am not so sure that Omni mover attractions are well suited to Fastpass in its current iteration. The wait times at attractions such as Haunted mansion, TT, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, IASW, PoTC, Jungle Cruise, Spaceship Earth) have appeared to have been lengthened extensively with the use of Fastpass. Now, I will admit, when I have a Fastpass, I love it, and when I don't, I hate it lol.

I am not saying Fastpass needs changing, I am presenting this because I am interested in your thoughts. Do you feel like stand-by times have been exasperated by the use of Fastpass, having wait times far longer than necessary because of the use of Fastpass in attractions where it may not be needed?

What do you think? Like I said, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, etc seem to have had their stand-by times unaffected based on pre-fastpass waits I remember.

I don't notice it as much at MK as I do at Epcot honestly. I think at MK the FP distribution even things out. I think the only ride that is a little longer wait than previously is IASW. The rest not so much. Even then IASW only has groupings of times when I feel like it's longer.

I will say I notice it at Epcot, or it could be that their lack of replacing rides has had a big negative effect there.

I saw major lines at POTC and Haunted Mansion unlike what I have seen during previous visits.

I agree about EPCOT. Spaceship Earth had waits of 55 minutes lol. This was a walk on whenever attraction before FastPass, and with this new Judy Dench version.....:grumpy:

We were there the same time earlier this month as we've been other times. I also went May for many years running and did it in the middle of the FP+ change.

I don't think I've ever seen lines at POTC or HM unlike before during similar times. In fact HM was rather short when we went and POTC was around 10-15 minutes most of the day until early afternoon when it normally picked up. Even on Gay Days which was a Saturday with a few extras for the event. Sorry you did feel it was worse for you.

Serves me right for going in mid/late June lol

You’d be right. Legacy Fastpass was installed in WDW on The Haunted Mansion. It was removed. Disneyland removed it from several attractions since it wasn’t needed for the type of attraction.

Buy Fastpass+ has to have it everywhere so that everything seems good value.

I think it all depends when you go. We go Oct-Dec always and avoid the holiday weeks (thanksgiving or Christmas week) and the waits are still low for rides like Spaceship Earth etc. Most of those rides that always was lower before FP+ still are when we go. Longest wait Spaceship Earth had this past December was 15 min (usually it was only 5-10) give or take. FP+ At least when we go has not negatively affected stand by times much at all. ;)

Ride rationing works. People are now lining up to ride JIIWF where before FP+ it was a walk-on.
Still walk on when we go. Lol Walked on it numerous times when we were there 11/29-12/12/17. It’s usually eerily empty most days with literally most ride cars empty. Never waited in an actual line for it ever on any trips. ;)

I am not trying to start a flaming war, but do you think it may be a matter of time before Disney starts having customers pay additional for the privilege of using Fastpass Plus? It seems that it is ripe for becoming a premium service, andI think it's a matter of time.

I mean, the parks have regular 22 dollar "standard parking", and closer "preferred parking" for 45 dollars. We also have preferred rooms, so how long before Fastpass Plus becomes a fee based privilege?

Yes fastpass doesn't beling on omni movers. Before they had it, rides like pirates was 20 to 30min on a really bad day. Every time we have been there, 35/40min is the average and an hour on a bad day.

Exactly! Omnimover attractions are crowd eaters by nature. Why clutter up and back up the lines for Fastpass??? I can see why the attractions that had traditional waits of over an hour or more, but Omnimovers???

I could see a system where rides like haunted mansion, pirates, spaceship earth... are the free fastpasses. But your splash, space, flight of passage, star wars... become the paid deluxe fastpass.

I agree. I am telling you, I believe it is coming. Universal charges for it already, so they could use that excuse to soften the blow to visitors. Plus, it seems the parks are full of first time, or less frequent visitors, so I doubt Disney wouldn't be too concerned about WDW loyalists like us being butt hurt over the change whenever they decide to make it.

Fastpass + - I believe - goes much deeper than getting people “out of lines”....which is all the legacy was for...

I think they use it for cutting staffing down to the bone and for creating “demand” for upsells through artificial means...

So it’s not going anywhere and could get worse for the user. That tech upgrade was gonna be paid for but the customers...that was never in doubt.

The wait times are typically not low...you just are there when it’s “more slow” than about 10 months of the calendar.

Right after thanksgiving to second week of December?? Most are home fighting each other at Walmart during those weeks.

You have good timing then. In Jan 2016, there were lines. Not huge, but people were waiting to ride it with FPs.
