Fastpass for resort Guests

I have talked to some people lately who said they are glad that WDW and Dl's fastpass system is for everyone and not just guests at their resorts. I think it would entice people to stay on property if they knew that this was the only way to get a fastpass. (or allow the resort guests to hold more than one at a time.) What are your opinions?

I like the idea that it is open to everyone. The system has its flaws, and personally, I wouldn't mind seeing it go, but as it stands right now, having it available to everyone makes it a much more guest friendly service then it would be if only reesort guests got the benefits.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" as the old saying goes. If Disney really wants to make MORE profit, do as Universal Studios does. Give the option to guests to pay extra for the Fast Pass option. Disney does have a captive audience when we visit the parks, the ticket price is only the beginning. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE WDW and try to visits twice a year. But I also "hear" the Disney vacuum s__________g out my wallet everytime we visit.

I don't think Disney needs anything to entice people to stay on property as we have called before only to find all rooms on property were booked (and this wasn't at a peak time.)

While the Disney resort guest inside of me would like to see it become exclusive as I'd never even consider staying off property, I suppose it's only fair that it is available to everyone. Resort guests have EMH (though I'm not much of a fan of those at times, honestly, they can be super crowded and not worth it) so I guess fastpass being available to everyone is fair.

And please don't let this turn into an anti-fastpass thread, though I'm sure it will. People who don't like fastpass don't know how to properly utilize it  Annnnddddd go!

In some attractions i suppose Fast Pass helps keep que times down, which is why i wouldn't get rid of them. But i'm not a huge fan of them, especially one family in Epcot a few years ago who said "We've done all the rides with Fast Passes, let's go". You have to go in Standby sometimes to enjoy the que areas, like my favourites of TOT and SM.

But not having Fast Passes for Test Track would make the que even longer!

I have to say without fastpass some lines would be too much to wait for and I think they are a good thing to have. And having them avalible to everyone is much better. But I have to say I miss the e-ride nights. It was great, only a few hundred people could get in, the tickets weren't expensive, and all the rides open for extra magic hours were open for it. It was great we rode space mountain 9 times in a row with no wait (sometimes we were the only ones waiting)

I think FastPass is a godsent!!! The lines can be rediculously long. I don't even remember when WDW didn't have fastpass because I'm so used to it now. I think having it for everyone is better than just resort guests. I also like waiting in line sometimes, because the queue areas for most of the rides are just amazingly detailed and they go great with the story of the ride.

When my parents stayed at the Royal Pacific in IoA in 2006, they had fastpass for everything, being a resort guest. They said the week they were there, they didn't even need it.. There were no lines for anything. But I guess it would still be good to have because you never know what lines will be like on any given day. I think it is a good idea for IoA resort guests to have the fastpasses because they probably would need more attendance in their resorts than Disney does. They only have a few resorts as it is.

The only reason I brought this up today was while looking at the DLRP website it talked about VIP Fastpass. The system intrigued me, I looked it up and it sounds like if you stay in one of their suites you get unlimited FPs. And I didn't know they have 5 Disney resorts there. Wow

There's been rumours (on here) of a "tiered" FP system. Non resort guests get a basic FP, Value Resort guests get some privelege, Moderates get more and DeLuxe get even more. As long as Disney doesn't go the Universal way and start selling those priveleges

There's a big difference I feel when I'm in the Disney parks versus the Universal parks. At Disney I feel like they exist to make me have a pleasant, enjoyable trip. At Universal I feel like they do everything possible to squeeze as much money out of me as they can, and though I love the parks, I hate the overall greedy atmosphere at Universal. I think if Disney started charging for fastpass it would start to have that same sort of negative money grabbing feeling.

Though I will say, when on this past trip I finally shelled out the dough to buy the express passes at Universal it increased the amount of fun I had significantly. So it would be neat if IN ADDITION TO having the free fastpasses for everyone, if Disney would also sell a LIMITED number of super fastpasses (good for every ride) the way Universal does.

I enjoy the fastpass system but would be nice if the rumors were true about resort guests being able to secure more than one or at least a shorter delay time between.

On the other hand just happy to be there and escaping the day to day of life.

i love fastpasses. it would be so hard to fit everything in if they didn't exist.

while i like the idea of having it available to resort guests only, because our group only stays on property, and it be super awesome to have really short wait times. i'd feel pretty bad for the locals or those who can't afford to stay on property. it just wouldn't be fair to them... there are plenty of locals who love disney just as much as i do, and they should have the same opportunity to utilize fastpasses as resort guest.

Personally I really enjoy FP.
I have two little ones(1 and 3) and the thought of having to wait 50+ minutes to ride Winnie the Pooh terrifies me.

Fast passes should be available to all.
Although the majority of time we stay on property, I do have family in the area that will come and spend a day at the parks with us. It would be crazy if we could get FP and they couldn't.

ATLEAST Disney does not charge you for fast passes like Universal and Great Adventure and those other parks do! $40 a day, and you can only go on the ride once..

i love the disney ones. you have less of a wait time, and everybody who has a ticket is eligible, and its free, unlike another amusement park who tries to get every last penny from unsuspecting goers.
but seriously i love disney fast passes

I think the only reason Universal can get away with Express Pass for their guests is because they only have three hotels. Disney could never offer that, they have way too may resorts. And Universal also only sells so many Express Passes per day. If they didn't the lines would be way too long. Also, even when you buy Express Passes you can only ride each ride once. When you stay at one of their hotels, you can go on as many times as you'd like. That's why we alwasy stay on property when we go to Universal. One night gives you two days worth of priveledges :sohappy:.
