FastPass could SOLVE the DAS Delima!

That makes absolutely no sense. ANY park that offers a service such as DAS should consider exactly what the existing parks are doing. It does not matter how many people utilize the service. It is consistent. What Disney is doing-is absolutely inconsistent.
It does matter how many people use the service. If there are too many DAS users in the LLs it affects the other guests using those lanes.

I am not comparing the parks...I am comparing a policy that works versus calling in and talking to a cast member to only be declined because in their professional opinion it is not needed.
Perhaps you don’t realise that with the Universal system you can still be denied their disability pass.

You apply for the IBECS card (I forget the actual acronym) but after that you still have to speak to a Universal staff member (by phone or in person) - who decides whether or not you qualify for the Universal pass.

The logic is the different demographics of the parks cause one system to work well for USO and not for WDW.

Numbers are made up, but due to USO's bigger emphasis of thrill, maybe 5% of the people apply for their disability service and it is granted This is manageable, and does not clog any lanes

Now due to WDW being more about theme and nostalgia, imagine that 25% of the people apply for their disability and using the same rules as USO have it granted... now you have an issue where 25% of your park aren't waiting in lines and are virtual queuing. This clogs restaurants, stores, walkways, ect. additionally the LLs are so backed up, guests paying to skip the line are not satisfied and are requesting refunds. Furthermore, some of the guests on DAS can not wait in the LL now because the line is too long for them to wait!

The policy could be the same, but the results are vastly different.

I really wish all the nonsense LLs would just go away, and we could just have one standby line for everyone, with exceptions for properly enforced DAS. It was so much nicer during 2020/2021 being able to just walk around and get in line with no planning, no apps, and lines moved quickly. The system is just not needed, except for maybe the very highest demand attractions. Most WDW rides are very efficient and this system just erodes the efficiency.

That said, paper FPs are never coming back no matter what happens, IMO, nor is free FP. I could see them maybe doing “free” LL promo packages though.

You would need COVID and its limited park capacity back also, along with park reservations and limited hopping I would think.

Perhaps, but one might be inclined to think the people designing the parks would know this and how to design for it.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this... Disney leans a lot heavier into the attractions a 2 and a 102 year old can ride than Universal. By targeting an audience that audience, they make (most) of their rides quite accessible and enjoyable for the vast majority of people.

This design intention will natural attract a higher percentage of guests with disabilities.

The obvious answer is to just increase overall capacity, but Disney clearly hasn't wanted to do that for the past few decades because money.

So what design solution would you recommend?

So you want to go back to a time when due to a massive global pandemic with people dying to such a degree that travel was restricted, resulting in record low park attendance?

Not OP... but I'm pretty sure they were just saying the one specific example of something that came out of the pandemic they they view as a positive, not that they were happy about the whole pandemic. For example I preferred working from home 5 days a week to my current schedule, but that doesn't mean I was glad the pandemic was happening.

Yes, I’m sure that’s exactly what the poster meant. 🙄
I know it’s not exactly what they meant. My post was more to highlight the stupidity of trying to compare lines and park crowds during a pandemic to normal operations. You had short lines and waits because no one was there, so you had no need of FP+ or any type of line skip process. We went during that time and it was an interesting experience to be sure. Attendence was so low that on one day they let us just re-ride big thunder 4 times in a row, I mean we didn’t even have to get out of the cart. But your a moron if you think you can operate under normal attendance conditions as you did then
