Hey everybody. Can someone help me? I will be at Wdw in a few weeks and started looking at all the plans we made. we are spending a Day at Dak and have Dinner reservations for Capt' Jacks at Dtd at 5:40. The park is open until 5 and I need to figure out the best way to get to Dtd in time for our Adr. I am staying at POFQ will it be easiest to go back to our hotel and take the Water taxi over to DTD? Thanks for the help. This place has been an invaluable resource for a newbie like me.

The water taxi is not exactly quick. If I were you I'd take the bus to AKL then bus to DTD. That's probably the quickest using Disney transportation.

Like was previously posted your quickest route would more than likely be taking a bus to AKL and from there take the bus to DTD. If you want to freshen up a bit take the bus back to POFQ and from there take the boat to DTD. The boat is not as quick as driving yourself but it is extremely consistent and much quicker than the bus. If you are really pressed for time grab a cab.

Allow me to explain why I disagree with the above posters. Because AKL and AK are so close together, chances are, yes, you'll quickly get a bus from AK to AKL. But then, AKL and DTD are about as far apart as you can get on WDW property, so you may be at AKL waiting for quite a while to get a bus to DTD, and it will be a bit of a trek from there.

The 4 resorts that seem to be closest to DTD are POFQ, PO-R, OKW and SSR. And they all have bus and ferry service to DTD. If you take a bus to any of those 4 resorts, you're getting the longest part of your trek out of the way first, BUT you have more options to get the long part of the trek done first. As opposed to waiting for the single bus line that goes from AK to AKL, followed by the one bus line that will take you from AKL to DTD, you will have 3 or 4 bus lines to resorts close to DTD (3 options if POR and POFQ share a bus, 4 if not), then 2 or 3 options to get to DTD after that (bus or ferry, plus OKW and SSR have walkways to DTD). Your best bet may be to get a bus to SSR, but get dropped off at Congress Park, then walk over to DTD from there. I've done that walk, in the hot August sun, in less than 10 minutes. If you get dropped off anywhere else in SSR, you'll be closer to the ferry, but it will be much longer of a walk if you need to haul butt.

I would totally disagree. The bus is absolutely NOT dependable or quick as they have added "technology" to them that deploys them to other places instead of being on a set schedule between 2 or 3 locations.

The water taxi service is 10 or less minutes apart and depending on where you are taking it from, another 20 minutes or so to get to DTD. It is much more dependable than waiting anywhere from 30 to 75 minutes for a bus which is VERY common with the somewhat new deployment system.

Also, unless you are a vacation club member and familiar with the layout of Saratoga Springs, I would NOT advise going to SSR because the layout of the resort is somewhat confusing and while you would eventually find the boat service or walkway, it probably would account for lost time finding your way.

My advice is to take a bus to Old Key West resort. Walk right through the breezeway at the entrance pretty much onto the dock. Catch the water taxi service and be at DTD in 20 minutes from there.

And perhaps you could get to Animal Kingdom when it opens and leave early so you won't be so pressed for time. The biggest problem families make is having such a "planned" vacation for every hour of their trip. Make a general plan and then leave time for other stuff. If you have kids, they will appreciate not having to leave AK at 5, hot and sweaty and tired from walking all day and then going straight to eat dinner. Besides, most of the animals are active first thing in the morning. After you check the animals out first thing, then you could enjoy Everest, Dinosaur, Kali, etc.... and probably still be ready to leave that park by 2 or 3ish. Fastpass makes this possible and efficient!!

Talk about confusing................

The most direct route is the direct one : DAK - DTD. Fastest will be by your own car (but then you need to find a parking space at DTD). Second quickest is Disney bus but who knows how long the next bus will be ???
When you start adding a Resort stop into the route you're adding on large chunks of time to your journey.
If you're not watching the parade at DAK leave while its on when there will be little pedestrian movement, go to your own Resort, freshen up and take the boat to DTD

Fastest is your own car no doubt. Finding a spot at DTD is also not a problem. I have NEVER had a problem finding a spot on the West Side on any night ever. And I am there 3 to 4 times per week. However I would assume this person is not going to have their own car.

The most direct route is DAK to DTD but not the fastest unless the bus is waiting when you come out of DAK. I would say to look for the DTD bus. If it's not available and the Old Key West bus comes along, take it. It will be MUCH quicker. Besides, any idiot or rocket scientist could find their way to the boat dock at OKW. You could almost throw a rock to DTD from Old Key West and the boats are VERY reliable. They have 3 or more on the route at all times which makes it a 10 minute wait usually, tops!!!

There is no direct bus transportation serving Downtown Disney from any theme park or from the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Dude, I'm surprised you don't know/forgot this...
