Farewell Captain Jack!

I have never tried this place either. I have never even been to Fulton's. But I loved the Empress Lilly years ago. I also wanted to try this one or Portobello and even Earl of Sandwich, but I always go to Ragland Road. When we go to the World, I hate being out of the parks so DTD is a one day trip, meaning only one or two food trips.

And for the life of me I can't stay away from Raglan Road every time I go.

I used to do Rainforest, but there is one or two by me, there was another one but it closed. So I usually do it now in AK. The only other place I tried on recent trips was Paradiso, and I will never go back. Nothing to write home about. And that was closer to when it opened and it had that very extensive menu before it was scaled down a bit.

Can't say I'm too sad about this. But Disney is like my child. This is just another change it experiences, but when we look back at WDW history this place was once there.

As far as what I would like to see in its place. I have to think about it. But I want something very Disney, very themed. It's the World afterall. I don't want a chain I can visit at home.

Never tried this place after the mixed reviews and I remember walking by it several times and it just wasn't that busy. I could be wrong but it probably needs a fresh face in order to be more successful. I agree with the steamed seafood kinda place. What about a New England style lobster house...or even better...Caribbean Pirate theme? Maybe I am just a little Key West obsessed but who doesn't love pirates and rum?

In one of the news releases for Disney Springs I could have sworn I read something about Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto opening a restaurant in the newly revamped area. I also could have been dreaming that...either way, I'd like to see a sushi bar/Izakaya/Robata type restaurant right on the water.

So hungry right now...

I saw this in an article too and almost fell off my couch.

I will fly to Florida for that alone if he opens there.(I love you, Mickey, but...)

Pappasito's Cantina maybe? The properties do lack a decent south-of-the-border type of place.
Absolutely. Papas has a high end seafood franchise as well as BBQ and Burger joint. If you ever get the opportunity to connect or fly into Houston Hobby Airport, they have a version of most of there franchises there. I will say that the Mexican food version at the airport isn't quite as good as the stand alone version.

I tried the place once and I wasn't able to go on my 2nd reservation.

In 2006 the food tasted great. At the time you could have surf and turf and it tasted great. The menu in 2007 changed and there was a plumbing problem that they didn't the situation well at all. The Plumbing had problems before I checked in and my party was told to wait an hour. They told my party to go to Planet Hollywood.

Although we don't eat sushi, there are so many places you can get sushi at Disney. I would love to see a raw bar/cocktail type restaurant there. Shrimp, lobster, crabs, clams, oysters, etc. We have several here at the Jersey shore and they're VERY popular and alot of fun :)

agreed, although we could never go- it would literally kill my hubby:(

Rather than farewell I would say good riddance. Trust me Hatter you did not miss out on this one so do not pine away for having not tried it. It was not absolutely awful or anything but was really run of the mill and did not hold a candle to most other eateries available at the world...I do not have a hatred for the place or anything but happy to see it go so that it opens up a space for a new (and hopefully exciting) opportunity!

Exactly, the ambiance was nice but the food was really just meh.
