Fantasyland Garbage Cans

I'm looking for some clarification about Fantasyland garbage cans....

Near the castle the cans are white and yellow striped with a tent-like topper.

Elsewhere in Fantasyland the cans look nothing like this.

Anybody know why this is?

Actually, there are 3 different kinds - there is a version without the hat (yellow and white striped) behind the castle. It looks like the only ones with hats are near the Forecourt stage. (You can view all 3 and more on my Flickr page, if interested).

To the best of my knowledge, based off of old photos, the hat version was the original Fantasyland design, which was replaced with the new purple and gold with shield version). It seems like those few striped ones have remained, and probably because they match the area in front of the castle better. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would imagine it has to do with the general theming of the lands. The lands supposedly slowly transition from one area to another. This is more evident in Frontierland and Adventureland. That way as you walk from Liberty Square to Splash Mountain the buildings and props slowly transition from one place to another, so its not total shock. And since the trashcans originally matched the theming of the land, they would transition similarly. Going from European castle type area to sleepy European village type area. Now of course, this doesn't always hold true, and some places have had a generic trash can installed, and some lands transition much better than others, but that was my understanding of the initial concept.

Came across a couple trash cans a few years ago that are right next to each other, themed totally differently from each other, and yet still hold true to their respective theming/land rules...

Anyone care to take a guess? ;)

Ooooh! A challenge! :D

Let's see... well, lets start with the basics... am I allowed to know which park it was in, and if so, which park?

i'd guess at the Land pavillion. Green one, blue, and yellow maybe? or whatever the respective colors would be

I'm officially nominating this thread as the oddest *serious* post of the year.

:ROFLOL:

Hmmm...lets see...is it in the area of Caribbean Plaza and Adventureland?

Could it be possibly the fantasyland/ liberty square breezeway?

Nope and nope.

Not sure if it'll help, but when i said the trash cans were *right* next to each other, I meant literally about 6" apart.
If noone gets it by the time I get home tonight, perhaps I'll just post a photo of them. (I know the photo as it's taken will give away the location, but if I can crop it in such a way as to mask the exact location, maybe I'll do that)
