Fantasyland 2012

Yeah, and attractions always open when Disney has announced they will, the original Test Track is a good example. ;)

Test Track was very advanced ride tech. We're talking about an omni-mover here. I have faith Disney can at least do that. Although they did scratch up their brand new Dumbo, so who knows...

i know i'm being too optimistic when i say this, but Disney has better technology now, and New Fantasyland looks way too 98% finished to not open in the scheduled time.

remember, things today are very different than things back then.

Ya, 98% - not so much. Just because what you can see over the top of the wall looks pretty complete, doesn't mean that's the way it looks behind the wall. There is still much to be done.

2. There will be a Rapunzel's Tower next to a waterfall at the new entrance to Fantasyland from Liberty Square and the restrooms that are being built at the old Skyway Station will be themed as the Snuggly Duckling building from Tangled.
The entire new restroom complex will be themed to Rapunzel.
However, the buildings look nothing like the Snuggly Duckling.

Lee --

Can you give us any idea on what they will look like then?

If not Snuggly Ducking, will the buildings look like Rapunzel's castle then? I'm curious how they will be themed to Rapunzel exactly.

Any scoop on that? I'd love to see a description of this. You have no idea how delighted it would make my niece.

I suspect the exteriors would just be a softly-colored Tudor-esque style, like the buildings in the film. I'd love it if the interiors featured some Rapunzel-style murals (like she painted inside the tower).

If they do decide to instead theme it to the Tangled film's castle (with a beautiful tile mosaic outside, showing the royal couple and the lost princess), I would insist that each toilet be crafted to resemble a true "throne," with sceptre-shaped toilet brushes, marble stalls, purple-and-gold luminary chandeliers, and golden hardware shaped like braids. Talk about a fully "immersive" experience! :D (And yes, I'm just kidding about the idea of a "Royal Restroom.")

The architecture will be in a distinct Gothic Gothel style. ;)

You know what I am not ashamed to admit? I LOVE puns. Very clever wordplay!

But I would love to know if they are somehow recreating that charming and lovely castle from the film, with the little village and everything. The Rapunzel castle was so unique, with it built on a mountain. Wonder if the restrooms will be built in buildings looking like they are at the bottom of the mountain and then there could be forced perspective making it look like a winding road leading to the castle at the top.

I love how you think. You're clearly a very creative person! They could have a lot of fun by painting the bathrooms with Rapunzel-style murals...not even depicting Rapunzel in them, but depicting the animals and flowers and things she drew on the walls. It would be like Rapunzel went in there and drew this stuff. Genius!

Rapunzel-style painted murals for the women's room... wanted posters for the Pub Thugs, Stabbington Brothers, and Flynn Rider (complete with not-quite-right nose) for the men's room.

(And would it kill them to add a little snack cart outside that sells Attila's Cupcakes, while they're at it?)

These are GREAT ideas....love the wanted posters!

that still doesn't mean it isn't almost done, none of us know, really, how close they are (and i'll say i never said i knew nor gave the hint that i thought i did) but things can't be that far behind schedule either. we at least need to have a balance of optimism and pessimism. we shouldn't just up and conclude it'll be ready by August, but at the same time assuming it won't be ready until January of next year is way too absurd and it shows the faith we have in Disney is very little.
