That's true, but water parks are different beasts altogether.

Volcano Bay has many issues. An unifying theme isn't one of them.

is one of those issues having more attendance than blizzard or typhoon lagoon? if they place was bigger it would eclipse them. i hope they take this lesson and learn they can match the mouse if they want to.

I like the sound of this. If it includes Jurassic World I wonder what this’ll mean for Jurassic Park, which is even more intruging due to the rumoured coaster addition.

Ultimately, if Universal have 3 parks, With the view of a 4th, it’s about time Disney bites the bullet and sorts their overcrowding issues with the their 5th. Make each park unmissable and it shouldn’t spread the crowds.

I don't know what you guys are talking about but IMO Volcano Bay is the best waterpark in Orlando and most of the issues have been fixed.
It's a great park.

My issue is there was zero attempt to hide/theme the supports and tubes of all the slides.

In comparison, all opening day slides of both Disney water parks are completely themed.
To me that puts them above Volcano in terms of themeing.

Volcano has a killer attraction lineup tho. And a great atmosphere

theres no bullet to bite theres three parks that are amazingly under served....period....thats it....mostly just two now but i will still count AK slightly.

Not denying it but their IP plan is only going to make things worse. When the parks have hit a new capacity in the past it’s been the cue to build outwards. They can improve all 4 parks over the next several years pre 50th and after, but the crowding situation screams out for a new park.

At this stage you could take 25% of each parks guests, put them into the new park and still have 5 very busy parks. Star Wars, Guardians, Mickey & Tron aren’t going to improve this.

Disney has the sense of ‘so much to do compared to...’ at the moment. Universal are going to go hard at the family market here, and a big Disney USP, the benefit of size, is going to be just that little bit more irrelevant and they’ll lose days to Universal (especially at Universals much better priced hotels) Disney is Disney it’ll always have the draw, but it comes down to hotel stays & there’s a storm brewing.

This was reported on Screamscape earlier today, so take it with a grain of salt

"Universal has filed a few interesting new trademarks this month that could possibly be for their next Orlando theme park, or perhaps even the name of a land or two within. Earlier this month they put in one filing for the name "Fantastic Worlds", but just a few days ago they put in for a new trademark for "Universal's Epic Universe" as well as just plain "Epic Universe"... and not just for one use, but they filed for seven different uses for version of the name for things beyond theme park or attraction use, but to use on all kinds of merchandise."

It doesn't have to be replaced. Depends what is wrong with the soil and the next purpose of the land. The laws were changed because the long used industrial land wasn't being bought in case of contamination, new industrial land was bought that was virgin land. It was becoming a problem. Why ruin virgin land when you can just use the old industrial land and the new owner isn't held accountable for cleaning it up. Of course, this is all within reason. Think old gas station, in-ground tanks. What's the point of making it unsellable to the next gas station who will want to buy virgin land so they aren't blamed for anything? A theme park parking lot doesn't need to be very clean soil wise. Etc etc.
We are not talking about a generic site.. Universal Studios and Lockheed Martin began clean up on the site around 1999/2000 and even got special thanks from the EPA for the effort in 2005 (I believe, might be off a few years). The site had known heavy contamination for its years as a Weapons Manufacturing area, something like 20+toxic metals and industrial solvents, including the carcinogen trichloroethen. I would assume that there was some soil clean up and replacement to hand the removal of the Landfills. I also know they had a few oil/fuel spill areas that needed to be cleaned up.

According to articles in 2004, they excavated 400,000 tons from landfills which included office material, dummy missiles, grenades, bio-hazardous waste, and electroplating sludge. It always appears that they spending two years pumping out the water from underneath the site to filter it and pump it back down..

The cleanup of the site was completed years ago.

Oh I'm aware of this.. That stemmed from a joke being curious to how much soil was cleanup/dug-up and all that mess. If i'm not mistaken the Clean up also took less time than originally anticipated.
