My son is 4 years old (and 2 months) and am wondering if he will enjoy Fantasmic---I have only been once and I had to stand way, way, way at the back so my memories of this show are fuzzy. He is afraid of the dark and I THINK it was very dark during the show and it seems like most of the show was with the villians too--but not sure about any of this. He did ok with parade and fireworks at last year's MVMCP but he hid in his stroller until there was something to look at---can you take strollers in or do you have to park outside?

First of all I Love Fantasmic, now to your question. My six year old found it scary simply because of the darkness of the show. He got used to it at the end, but I felt like he didnt enjoy it like I hope he would. It kinda surprised me that it did scare him, so it might be a little darker to kids. Hope this helps.

I took my kids for the first showing of Fantasmic at 5 and 2 1/2. Neither were scared in the least but then again they are the type kids that have begged to ride the thrill rides before they were tall enough to. Both of them experienced Haunted Mansion & BTMRR at 2 1/2 -3 and it never fazed them. I would say at 4 you are okay but it depends on the child.

My 4 year old loved it! Our challenge was keeping him busy during the 45 minutes we sat and waited for the show to start. We played eye spy, which wet well for about 10 minutes, till he decided to "I spy something messy" instead of a color, and was insistent that we answer. Well, it wasn't ice cream - it was "that lady's hair", which was not messy - just curly and he is used to my pin straight hair! I am so thankful she had a great sense of humor, as I was mortified. Anyway, sorry for that tangent. I say give it a try. Just explain and explain again that it will get dark, but that he will get to see so much and will have fun, and that you will be there and can hold his hand. You will never get the chance to see things through his 4 year old eyes again, and if he really does have a hard time and cannot calm down, you can always leave.

Thanks everybody for the advice! I hope he will enjoy it. I saw it so long ago and could not see very much from where we were standing- I am dying to see it again!

My kids can be a bit skittish about such things. If I'm seeing a sit down show and they are a bit nervous, we let them sit on mommy or daddy's lap and discuss with them before the show that if they want they can burrow their head into our chest, close their eyes, cover their ears etc. Usually, it's not a problem, but they have taken advantage of our offer on a couple of occasions. I think it's important to have this conversation before the show because once the show gets started it can be too late. They'll be freaked out and the only thing that works is leaving.

Have a Great Time!!

My daughter was just turning four when we took her to see Fantasmic (also my favorite thing in all of WDW). She had cried on Stitch's Great Escape, Buzz Lightyear and Tough To Be A Bug. She LOVED Fantasmic! So much so that we got in line for the second showing to see it again the same night!

I agree with many of the posters. I think that he will love it!!! 4 years old was when my son first was able to appreciate the show. We saw it during one of the first nights of our trip and all he kept telling everybody for the rest of our stay is that Mickey saved the day and beat the bad guys! It was funny:lol:. Hope this helps.

I can go both ways:

Took my 4.5 year old godson with me a few years back. He loved it.

My almost 4 year old daughter refuses to go see it because I showed her on YouTube - and she knows it is dark and "scary" in her eyes. I am hoping she changes her mind - although she hates fireworks!

So it all depends on the kid themselves.
