Fantasmic Reopening Watch

What are we thinking as far as odds of Disney doing a livestream? I have no plans to visit, but would like to see it.
Too Far Out to Guess what DPB will do. There will be a Stream Fest with the Regular Streamers I'm sure!

Unless DHS pulls a fast one and Fantasmic Returns Opening Night of MNSSHP or MVMCP.!

Plus there's the question of a Media Night before the Public Date. But again, too far out!

Once this show is announced to open, what is a good time to queue up to watch it in a seat? I am likely NOT going to get a dinner combo package because of the uncertainty around re-open and other changes to my plans, plus we don't even know if they'll be offered again. So If I just want to attend this on a whim with the family. Is 1 hour too long to queue up ahead of time?

Visit is 2nd week November and I'm optimistic it will be open by then.

Depends on when it debuts. If the second week of November happens to be one of its first weeks back, I would say you probably need to queue up closer to two hours before.

It also depends on if they extend the hours at DHS and offer the show twice a night, like they sometimes did. If that’s the case, the later show will always be less busy.

Fantasmic was still immensely popular before it shut down, and now it’s been 2.5ish years since it performed here…there’s going to be a lot of pent up demand when it finally returns.

They really took that "Returning in 2022" to the max.

All kidding aside, I'm excited about the upgraded tech. It does sound like they wanted this show to debut sooner, but ran into technical issues. Good to hear it's got some momentum again.

Hopefully we hear that the casts are starting rehearsals - I'm guessing that would be the next milestone.
Haha! Unfortunately, it ended up taking an unexpectedly long time to get the show systems back online and not for lack of trying. They originally hoped to announce the simultaneous openings of Fantasmic! East and West, but unfortunately that was not to be. A small cast has been selected to workshop the new scene, so full rehearsals are drawing nearer.

Gosh I'm thinking 2 hours is too long (for me and family) to wait for this show instead of doing other attractions. I agree if it debuts that week or a week or two before it could be like that. I'd probably just take my chances and head over 1 hour before show time and see what happens. If we got shut out I'd be disappointed but it is what it is. Anyone know the capacity of the theater?

Hasn't F! always been 90-120 Min before Showtime since 1998????? The real question is When are there no more seats????
Since when? In all my trips we usually head to the theatre 30ish minutes before and have never had an issue getting a seat.

Maybe they will bring back the dessert party and/or dining package to help guarantee seats and not require 2 hours of waiting

Previous theatre capacity was just under 7,000 with a couple more thousand spots for people willing to stand for the 25 minutes show.

Alot will depend on frequency of shows. In recent history pre-covid Fantasmic had many schedules. Sometimes it only had a few shows per week, sometimes it had 2 showings on certain nights, and sometimes it just played nightly (even there… sometimes scheduled simultaneously with the fireworks show and sometimes those timeslots were staggered where guests could fit both shows in one night). Consider how long it’s been open before your trip and which schedule it’s on for how early to arrive. We usually arrived 30-45 mins prior and found seating, but could require 90 minutes if you’d like specific seating.

You really didn’t have much choice with your seats in the lead up to COVID. Pretty much the whole center section was FP+ (remember that relic??) and the dining packages. The cast members kind of just herded you into a section, and it was not as if the started with the best seats for the folks lined up earliest.

In any case, I would absolutely expect full capacity, standing room only, shows for the foreseeable future whenever it does return.

Keep in mind Fantasmic can run three shows a night and theres a lot of dinner sell up and genie+ soak up available by opening the show.

I’d bet it’ll be online for the Halloween parties starting. As much as theres blocking/choreography - it’s not the most technical acting of shows. Most of the work is getting the show to run smooth at pace.

Can’t see it - Halloween parties start 12th Aug - no way will they get online by then.

It’s day I arrive so I will be over the moon if this happens

I don’t know about 3x any more, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see it 2x per night.

When is the last time it ran 3x? I remember that during peak weeks in winter many years ago. I can’t see them showing it at 9, 10:30, and 11:30 during daylight saving time any more.

2015/2016 if I recall correctly. The show is loaded in packages and can be done rather quick. The longest part is unloading the theatre.

Fantasmic rates higher than most of the other night shows on guest surveys + sells a lot of product vs the fireworks shows in studios.

Depending on capacity I can see it being deployed again as a 3 show set as a proper genie+ sponge.

We’re returning to WDW after a 13 year absence. I sure hope it returns by our November trip. We won’t do the Christmas party at MK so it would be nice to do the dinner package here one night. We loved that. Fingers crossed.

This is the same company as the one arguing over whether it is worth spending money to bring HEA back for a bit because DE rates so poorly.

I’d love to be surprised, but they are super lazy at DHS in particular. Their entertainment park is missing a ton of entertainment.
