Fantasmic! Refurb Schedule Change

The Fantasmic! schedule has been updated to be pretty much nightly through next March EXCEPT for the refurbishment, which will now begin 1/9/11. Folks visiting during Marathon weekend will now be able to see Fantasmic! I guess their experiment having it nightly was successful.

Considering it ran nightly before TDO decided to become cheap and cut costs, I think this is more likely their experiment of cutting the amount of shows failed...

I think the cut back on shows was because of AIE. That attraction has failed! I could give a care about AIE and refuse to waste an hour of my time watching a talent show.

Could be part of it... trying to get more butts in seats for AI.... As for AI itself, I cannot speak daily, but when I saw the show in 2009, the theater was only half full, I didn't go to the final show of the night... I choose Fantasmic...

I think it was more popular when it first began, but it has jumped the shark for sure. Went to a finale show in May that was pretty sparsely attended. But the bad news is, the other half of that building is already dead, so I'm guessing we're stuck with it until that show is cancelled from TV.

Yep, we are stuck... it isn't that bad of a show... I enjoyed my one time seeing it... But, I won't go out of my way to catch another showing...

That does not make much sense. It would be like reducing the wishes schedule to drive up attendance at the tiki room.

It doesn't seem right to me to continue complaining about the previous Fantasmic! schedule that has gone away. People make mistakes. I applaud Disney for hearing our concerns and making the right decision, even if it does cost more money. It would have been easier to maintain the status quo.

For a short period of time this was rumored to be a major overhaul. I think that has dropped from everyones radar now that the refurb schedule is so short. I'm still hopeful that Fantasmic will receive the love it needs. WDW has the best viewing situation for the show, now they need the best version of the show.

Gosh, yes! The DHS aquacade seating really is a nice way to do it, but it's a shame the show you are watching is so tired and outdated. There's so much great potential with the WDW Fantastmic!, but TDO just won't let it sparkle like it should.

I would also love for them to come up with some sort of a classy, upscale pre-show for the WDW version instead of just letting 5,000 antsy tourists start doing The Wave out of sheer boredom. Disneyland has the snazzy n' jazzy combo come floating out on the raft a half hour before showtime each night, interacting with the audience and performing upbeat jazz favorites and Disney tunes.

Talk about a pleasant, classy way to wait for Fantasmic, and tourists doing The Wave like they are at a high school pep rally is certainly not the reaction you get at Disneyland when this is happening.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acLhy9ZiQNQ&feature=related

Hey, TDO! Don't forget, the magic is in the details!

Have to disagree about the Disneyland Fantasmic being "tired and outdated." Their show blows WDW's out of the water, with the dragon, Flotsam and Jetsom, the Peter Pan sequence, and their superior finale. I love the seating arrangements at WDW as well, and wish the show was something closer to what's in Disneyland.

I think TP2000 was referring to Fantasmic at DHS being tired and outdated and not Disneylands.

I love Fantasmic and I don't want to see it go away, but it definitely needs a refurb.. My roommate went last night and Mickey didn't even appear for the finale at the top of the mountain.

Heck, just bring back the bellhops. They more than kept the crowd entertained.

I loved them. How much money was saved by cutting two actors? Of course, if they keep us bored (especially our kids), then we are forced to entertain them with $30 spinny, light up thingies.

Waiting at Disneyland for Fantasmic is miserable. No seating, shoulder to shoulder, and for many - a really poor view.

Why are you so negative about everything at Disneyland? Quite frankly, I cannot stand having to go wait in line for WDW's Fantasmic or having to deal with the back entrance and side view with the Dining Package. Then if you really wanna get down to it, sitting there for an hour to 90 minutes is miserable. At least at Disneyland, I walk up at the last minute and am able to hop under the rope in the center of the theater!

while I prefer Disneyland's actual show for many reasons, the process of actually getting into the show, waiting, and watching it is superior at DHS. You say you hate waiting in line for WDW's F!. I have never waited in line. The theater is huge, so unless you are seeing the first show during the summer or Holiday season, there are seats available until very shortly before the show starts. 12 viewings...no line. And once you do get it...you sit...on a bench. Not a sidewalk. While it ain't exactly comfortable, it beats the ground.

The sightlines are good at DHS from everywhere (of course that's because they were engineered to be so), while at DLR, if you didn't get there early enough, you could have obstructed view.

You can grab something to eat or drink at DHS and come back to your seat without fighting through a crowd (except for the people in your row, but look, there's a place to walk between each row).

Putting on F! at DHS doesn't result in closing a handful of attractions and blocking walkways off to make Frontierland one way in and Adventureland one way out. It doesn't make it woefully difficult to get to the Tiki Room, Pirates or Splash Mountain like at DLR.

The show is better at Disneyland, but the logistics around the show...far better at DHS.
