Fantasmic Problems...

I can't believe that these haven't been mentioned on here and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Fantasmic was looking rough when I saw it this past Saturday and Wednesday. I'm usually a big supporter of Fantasmic and try to to defend it but it's gotten to the point where it's just bad.

Both shows when the Dragon came out it did its usual bit but then both times as soon as it blew the fire out of it's mouth it froze. Wednesday they slowly got it off by the end of the show, but then Saturday it just sat there the rest of the night. Also Mickey's fingers didn't shoot sparks either night, the pyro blast after the villians are defeated was still missing, and the tarps around the mountain with the forest scene on it look horrible. Wasn't this show just done for a six week refurbmishment? I know they replaced the lighting and that all looks great but did they do anything else? I mean I don't think they even fully fixed Sorcerer Mickey's lift at the end because he still rises pretty slowly. I love Fantasmic, it's my favorite nighttime spectacular, and unlike most people I love our version a lot...but it's starting to become pretty ridiculous.

That's very very disappointing. My first Fantasmic experience is going to be at the end of the month and I'm so persnickety on this show that faulty animatronics may in fact ruin it for me.

This is what happens when we get a four week refurb instead of a six month overhaul like needed.

The thing I don't understand is how are they not able to just do gradual upkeep, maintence, and replacements of things when it's in a very secluded ampitheatre that is completely empty all day...

Hmm...Last week I saw the sparks working, the villain pyro, and it's been a few months since I've had dragon issues. That being said, Yes Sorcerer Mickey's Lift is still broken, The last time I saw it the middle projector was off-timed the whole show (about three seconds behind the other two), there was no kocoum, There were lights out on all three barges (embarrassingly with Rafiki), and I'm not sure if it's just been since the rehab, but there was so much smoke that you really couldn't see Mickey at all at either the beginning when he first appears, or at the end for "Some Imagination, Huh?!" I feel like this are all ridiculous problems that need to be fixed. This show is completely inconsistent.

Fantasmic is one of the best Night Show anywhere, these issues need to be fixed!

Time to throw in the towel, rid MGM of this horrid show, and bring in something revolutionary. And skip the amphitheater. I don't want to feel like cattle when I am spending my holiday in the Vacation Kingdom of the World.

OrangeTree, I'm not saying get rid of the show, I love it and it can be really spectacular...when everything works. They just need to get their act together and fix things.

Let's say Fantasmic gets a six-month refurb. Would TDO have a fireworks display in it's place for the time being? Your average guest would probably hop to EPCOT Center or MK if there is no evening show.

In February it looked pretty good, but I don't think I can go see it for a few vacations. Literally, I've seen it 5 times in the last year and a half. Don't get me wrong, it is an amazing show and reminds me of my first trips to Disney, but I'm Fantasmic-ed out!

I would be alright with Fantasmic being retired. So long as some other show replaced it, or they could figure out how to do a fireworks show again at the Studios. I think the show is certainly showing its age...especially when it's stage, set, and props are falling apart...

They should.... But they would probably try to use the final show of American Idol as the replacement for Fantasmic as the night time entertainment...

They don't need to retire Fantasmic. They need to do to do it what they've done to Disneyland's show, which is vastly superior. The Orlando Fantasmic is laughably bad when compared to the version in Anaheim, particularly when you talk about the show's technical aspects.

The Orlando Fantasmic! isn't just laughably bad compared to Anaheim any more; that sentiment of laughable badness ended a few years ago. Now that Anaheim's Fantasmic! has had a four-year rolling technical and creative upgrade the term to be used now in comparison with the Orlando version is "painfully bad".

For my 2012 trip to WDW, Fantasmic! is one of those things I'm going to do at Disneyland within 36 hours of my Orlando departure, just to have a good frame of reference for the Orlando version. It's almost therapeutic.

I think they could do a replacement fireworks show if Fantasmic was down for an extended time. Didn't they have a special/extra fireworks show while Obama was down there?

Not to get anyone's hopes up, but I know there were major updates for Fantasmic being offered. Whether or not those are approved or not, I have no idea. At least they are talking about it.

Fant! needs some TLC in a bad way.
