Fantasmic package or not?

I'm wondering if the Fantasmic package is necessary now that the number of shows per week has been reduced. I have two young kids and I prefer not to wait an hour or more for seats. I've done the F! package in the past and the only reason I'm even debating this is b/c I like to try new restaurants every trip. This was the restaurant we were willing to let go so we could try something new! But if it's necessary to get a decent seat without waiting an hour then I'll add it back to the list!

FYI, we're traveling the end of Aug. and we're taking a first timer with us so she really wants to see the show. And we're there for 8 nights!

Thanks for your help and advice!

We just got back from the World this past Sun. I booked the Fantasmic pkg back on our 90 day mark in January since shows had just been cut, I read about chaotic crowds, and I had never seen the show. It turned out the week were there they had Fantasmic 3 nights of the week with 2 shows all 3 nights. We kept our Mama Melrose reservation - which I was hesitant about since I've read mixed reviews, but we both enjoyed our meal. Since we had an early dinner (out of there by 6p) we decided to go with the flow of things and decide closer to show time which one to watch. We ended up skipping the early show and got in line for the 10p show I think around 9:30 (maybe a bit sooner?) and got what I thought were perfectly fine seats around the middle, towards the back (only to be able to get out ahead of some crowds). We don't have kids, but if you say your kids will be fine staying awake later if they get a break earlier, and there are 2 shows the night you are there, then I would skip the package and try something new!

as many other posters have said, no it isnt the only way to get a seat, but the choice of standing for an hour or sitting and eating for an hour...

I'll take the later
