Fantasmic getting a redo?

I am 97.7% sure Fantasmic will be getting a major redo in the near future
. I 've found out some interesting info on all of this. If it does happen expect it to be down for at least a year. This is still a rumor so
take it with a grain of salt.

If they want to really up the quality of the projections, they'll need to go to a different water screen tech. Just upgrading to an HD projection system isn't enough, as the improvement is marginal at best (if you've seen Universal's Cinematic Spectacular you've seen the difference in person).

But, given what has happened in the past when it was supposed to be really refurbed I won't be holding my breath.

Drew is a very reliable source when it comes to entertainment in the parks, and I would trust what he says as legit. I'm sure he's said as much as he can at this point.

This would be awesome. Fantasmic is far from my favorite show, but I think it's here to stay for a long time. If that is the case, it definitely deserves to get a serious redo... Now about the rest of HS....

So why did they do a two month band aid refurb then earlier this year?

The Refurb earlier this year was an effort to upgrade lighting, there was some nextgen installation done, and there was also work done on the seating area. It really wasn't that extensive, especially from a guest standpoint, it was mostly backstage or non-noticeable work.

That is great news! I love Fantasmic, but I must admit that it does seem due for an upgrade. Say...maybe we'll get a dragon AA too. Hopefully one with better luck than poor Murphy... :animwink:

If I may digress, I do hope that Philharmagic will get a major refurb too, especially of its 3D film. It's a mess right now, especially if you compare it to the crystal-clear 3D of the new Star Tours attraction. Philharmagic has the most authentic Disney "feel" of anything in the park. It DESERVES a major upgrade.

The big upgrade was scrapped last winter... Unless they've been forced to rethink...

Wouldn't be the first time.

Drew,

If this is true, will F! keep its name? I seem to remember Steve had a different name for the overhaul last year(Steve never gave us any info as it wasn't approved, I thought I saw a different name on here.)
