Fantasmic Fails - Feb 27th

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Being raised in a family theatre company... I have to say that.. Doing thousands of LIVE shows a year.. Mistakes are bound to happen eventually. Very often, in fact, for this show.. For a two particular reasons. 1), It is performed for almost the entire year, don't expect it to be perfect 100% of that time. 2), besides the fact that this is a live show, it is also very.. VERY high-tech. Making the possibilities of these "mistakes" even more possible.

I believe this show runs amazingly well for what is involved to make this show happen almost every single day a year.

Saying a live show like Fantasmic should never have a glitch is like saying an attraction like Space Mountain that operates about 12 to 15 hours a day, 365 days a year, isn't going to have a single breakdown.

The fact that the theater and nearly all of the equipment is outdoors in Florida weather doesn't help either.
I've had equipment that broke down just sitting there doing nothing. That's just how live productions go. They practice for all of these occurrences and i think they do a fantastic job during these things from the videos that I've seen...

The real fail was the obnoxious males that wouldn't shut up.
Could not agree more!!
Interesting video and glad things were pointed out in writing (the talking was beyond irritating and if I had to sit next to that, especially if I were trying to video the show myself...I'd likely have to bleep my own video out). Thanks for sharing OP!

I've experienced similar issues with the show before and I was so amazed by it, because out of the countless times I've seen the show it's only malfunctioned once for me. The night I saw it the dragon came out but did not light the lake on fire, so it was very anticlimactic. And then the steamboat wasn't working, so the characters danced on stage instead and Mickey had to run out from the side at the end of the show as opposed to being center stage.

Thanks for posting the video! It was really interesting.

Time for the long message from the original poster:

The real fail are the people giving their awful, broken English commentary the entire time.

Terrible.

I am sorry that me and my friend were having fun during the show. I can 100% guarantee that nobody around us heard us talking, over the constant speaking of everyone else watching the show. This is not a broadway show, this is a live outdoor performance people are going to talk. Thanks for watching the video.
And could the person filming shake any more? Wow, this video is annoying. Had to close it.

Fantastmic...great show and like everything, sometimes has a bad day.

Hello again, I am sorry for trying to enjoy the show too. I was filming with my phone, while watching the show from both the screen and my eyes. This video was also not meant to be a professional recording. Thanks again for watching the video.

Well, there are some bitter queens in this thread  Thanks for sharing OP! Your dialect and filming style was A okay with me.

:)

The real fail was the obnoxious males that wouldn't shut up.

Thanks!

With Disneyland getting an updated version of the show once the Rivers of America re-open, what's the likelihood that we too will see updates at DHS? Seems like a good time so there is a nifty fresh nighttime show once new capital opens.

**This video is not meant to complain or ruin the magic for anyone. I myself work in live theater and know mistakes can happen. I made this video to capture the moment and show people what I experienced. No matter how many mistakes are made, this show continues to be one of my favorites.**

Of course not. "9 mistakes and 1 failed show = 10!". How could we possibly get the idea it's not meant to complain or ruin the magic?

Did it occur to you that you could have "0 show"? They said at the start that the show might not even happen. But they pulled it together and did the best with what they had rather than have an entire theater full of people and no show at all. Does it mean that it could have been better? Of course. But what happened to "The show must go on!"

Thanks!
Glad I can tell you my sentiments directly. I stand by what I say...way too much talking. Trust me, it doesn't annoy the people around you no matter how quiet you think you were.

I used to work in this theater. I remember the one night we had a bit of a rainstorm and at the last minute they ran the rain show. This was one of my first shows and I can remember my co-workers telling me "don't make eye contact with guests on their way out". LOL :hilarious:

Sorry if I don't make sense, but I'm a bit confused. If you did not watch the fill video, or read the information below the video then yes it would sound like im complaining. But im not. I have seen Fantasmic more than I can count. (15-20+ shows), I loved this experience of getting to see what they do in case of a mishap.

"Did it occur to you that you could have "0 show"?" no clue what that means.

What's the big deal, thousands of shows and there is bound to be one that goes wrong.congrats to the cast for making it work.
