Fantasmic! Dinner Package

We will be going back to the World in May this year. We are taking my DW's parents with us. They are not great fans of standing in lines, so when we go to MGM I am thinking of booking the Fantasmic! Dinner Package thing at the Brown Derby.

Can someone let me know how it works?

Do I have to book a meal for a certain time? Do we get a ticket or something? I know nothing about it.

Your info would be greatly appreciated.

We did the dinner package last year. We just booked a priority seating and at dinner they gave us a voucher for seating at fantasmic. We had to go to the gate at the front of the park and present the voucher.

Try to reserve a time for dinner about 2 - 2and a half hours before whichever fantasmic show you want to see ( if there are two shows that night). When you make the priority seating call make to let them know it is for fantasmic. When you arrive at dinner your wait person will let you know what time to be at the gate to get into the show and present your group with a ticket for admission.

The Brown Derby is excellent! It is now a tradition of ours to make sure we have at least one meal there while we are at WDW. We usually get an early booking and use it as a late lunch/early supper meal and are able to get a few rides in at the end like RNR and TOT while we are waiting for the show. If you want a classy, sit down, traditional resturaunt meal this is the place to go. I had the best steak in my life there last year at Christmas and our kids like the choices they have. My wife usually handles all the dinner package details so I am not sure how all that works.

I did the package in late August and went to H&V. Personally I didn't think it was that great. It wasn't one of my favorite experiences at Disney but that's just me. Everyone always has different experiences at the restaurants so it's hard to make a decision.

Also, we were supposed to get there I think 15-30 min prior to the show but we ended up going on the GMR and got there exactly at 8 when it started. We had no troubles getting in though.

In response to an above poster, if there are 2 showings that night, you will not need the dinner package for the second showing.

In regards to the first showing, I have done it 3-4 times, and it has been an excellent experience all times. Would definately recommend.

My parents and I have done the Fantasmic dinner package about 6 times since it started.

I highly recommend it if you are not fond of lines, but still want to see Fantasmic. The seats that are garenteed are not in the dead center, they are off to the right slightly, but are still decent.

I highly recommend the Brown Derby, the food is quite good. If I remember correctly, you are limited to a selected menu, not the full selection with the Brown Derby. At Hollywood and Vine, you get the full buffet. Those are the only two we have been to on this plan.

When you get to the restaurant, you will be given a card that will act as your voucher to get back to Fantasmic, well before the show starts, you'll head up towards the front of the park, near the gas station at the front, and be taken along the back route. A bit of a hike, but it bypasses the line.

Hope this was helpful - though it may have changed since I was there last.

We did Fantasmic Dinner Package at H&V 2 different times. Were not impressed with either. We were not fond of the food. Make sure you ask the reservationist to tell you what the main entrees are for H&V at that time of year. I can't remember exactly what they had, but did not think that the food was very good. We would not do H&V again. We would do the Fantasmic dinner package but at a different restaurant. Just my opinion.

Ditto. If there are two shows, the second one is usually only about 1/2 full. No need to book the dinner package. We did a dinner package at Mama Melrose's during spring break. It worked out very well and we enjoyed the food.

the only problem is that is a very long walk from the front gate back to the show place. that is the only problem with having the booking the package. if they can't walk that far that is the only problem.

This is good to hear :) We have a fantasmic package booked for the first time and I picked Mama Melrose's. I hadn't heard as much about it as I have H&V and Brown Derby, but I have a picky eater in my family that absolutely loves pasta so I figured this was the place to go:)

We've done all three dinners and they were all good. I think Brown Derby has changed their menu since we were there last. I think we're going to try Mama Melrose's again. :slurp:

I asked my wife about this and she couldnt remember but we did have a good selection to pick from if it wasnt the full menu. Filet mignon:slurp: , tuna(which my brother had and said was very good), salmon, Cobb salad(which my Mom had and loved) pork, we had french onion soup for an appetizier which was excellent.
