Has anyone done this and would you recommend it? We would be thinking about eating a Mama Melrose.

What has been your experience with this package?

DH & I have done the Fantasmic package a couple of times, both at MM and H&V. I like the fact that you don't have to get to the theater quite as early as the rest of the masses since it's a lot faster going in, but the seats reserved for the package are usually off to the side so the earlier you get there the better seats you get obviously. Each time we have used the package the procedure for entering has been different though. We were on the standard dining plan in September when we used the package at MM and we got an appetizer. Even though it's not included on the DP, apparently it is now a perk of getting the Fantasmic package. I'm sure we'll do the package again on future trips and I recommend it.

We do it only because it avoids waiting in that LOOOONG line of impatient guests. The seating isnt really any better than any others ( it is off to the side). And since we are planning to eat at DHS anyways we figure we might as well do the package. Worth it? To us it is I guess.

I am a huge proponent of this if you'd already consider eating at the places that do it. It doesn't cost you any more to do it and it gives you a special entrance and viewing area for Fantasmic! How can you beat that?

I've seen folks say the view from the area reserved for this is bad but my own personal experience was quite to the contrary. I thought the view was fantastic. Here's a shot from when we did it a year ago:

Don't do it for the seats. The seats you get with the package are the worst seats they have. "Reserved" seating isn't the same as good seating. On nights where Fantasmic isn't crowded, nobody sits there...not even the package people.

You still have to show up at least 30 minutes before the show in order to claim the seats.

I would rather show up a little earlier and get better seats than take the package seats, if arriving early is required. But if it is a very crowded day and you don't want to show up more than 30-45 prior to show time, you will still get a seat with the package at that time.

We did it last week and we're happy with the results....ate a Mama Melrose with Dining Plan and got an appetizer, entree, drink and chef selection of desserts (we got 4 small ones for the two of us). It was somewhere we wanted to eat anyways.

Well, they are the worst possible seats. Are they fine? Yes. Are they good? No.

I think many people do the package for the seats. They think the reserved seats will be some of the best. They end up disappointed.

I'm not suggesting people NOT do the package. Makes no difference to me, either way. Just don't want anyone to end up disappointed. Informed decisions are best, IMO. :)

I think I often sound negative when I'm really just trying (honestly) to be helpful, lol. But I'm happy I proved your point, lol. :D

We did it back in 2010 and would recommend it. While we waited an insane amount of time to be seated and the service was on the slow side, what we ordered was tasty and our server was very sweet (i.e. it was the kitchen that was slow). I know some people don't like the view from the seats, but we saw everything just fine and really appreciated not having to wait in any crazy lines. i.e. I'd rather spend an hour eating a meal than an hour waiting in a long stationary line.

We are doing it again next month...Mama Melrose again, but this time during lunch hours.

We did it in March and it was awesome! Dinner was at the Brown Derby, which was amazing! I think it's totally worth it not to have to wait 2 hours in the Fantasmic line! We're doing it again in December, but we'll be saving a DDP credit and going to H&V. :)
