Fantasmic Dessert & VIP Viewing

Hey guys,

I’ve been eyeing up this package as a little surprise for the girlfriend.
But I have a few questions that I cannot find online!
  1. Do you get a box of desserts for EACH person/adult?
  2. Can you purchase the Fantasmic mugs/light-up lanyards anywhere else or are they an exclusive for this?
  3. Is the VIP viewing the same as the FP+ viewing area?
  4. Can you sit anywhere within the VIP viewing? Or do you have to ‘budge up’?

Hope you can help! Thank you :)

Hopefully you get a reply from someone who has actually done the event. That said, I have seen a large roped off area in the center of the seating area. I have to assume that is for dining event and dessert party viewing. I can't speak much about the snacks, but I don't consider the viewing area much of a benefit. You could walk in 30 minutes before the show and potentially get better seats than your "special area". IMO Fantasmic does not require center stage seats to enjoy. Going off the the side is just as good. I do prefer to be closer to the stage, but getting there a bit early has always guaranteed that for me, with or without fast passes. They do make general announcements regularly to please move to the center to make more room.

As a non-event participant, my observations is this dessert party offers the least bang of the buck. Seating isn't that special and you get some snacks before hand. I can take care of all of that on my own and probably do better. Fantasmic is my favorite show at Disney though.

We did this last year and thought it was worthwhile! To answer your questions:

  1. Yes, each person gets a box of desserts and a beverage.
  2. They are exclusive to this I believe.
  3. The VIP viewing area is right in the middle of the seating. This is just for dessert party guests and people who've paid for the Fantasmic Dining Package, as far as I'm aware.
  4. You can choose where you sit, but obviously you'll end up surrounded by people as it fills up anyway.

Thank you so much 😁
Think I’m gonna book it!

We have done the Fantasmic dining at WDW and the dessert version at DL... I wouldn't recommend the WDW for the seating as you will need to get there early to actually get good seats for it, we were there in a non-reserved viewing on an other trip and had better seats that what we got when we did the dining with the "premium" seating. If good seating is what you want, you do get better seating for some of the packages they have such as the ones for fireworks at MK and for the show at EPCOT... but I wouldn't recommend them unless you have money to burn as the quality of what you get for what you pay has dropped over the years while the prices have gone up. That is especially true of the Fantasmic at DL which went from actual seats in a great location to setting on the ground in a special area, just not worth it anymore.

If you want to surprise your girlfriend with a special dessert packs of some sort you might be happier with one of the cruises like the sparkling dessert cruise at MK to view fireworks... but only do it if you drink because it is pricey and if you don't drink you will really feel ripped off as you are paying a premium price in part to cover the champagne. The upside of these is they are bit more romantic than what you'll get at a fantasmic viewing.

Thank you for the insight! :)

I have already booked a dessert party for MK (done this a couple of years back for HS Star Wars too). But my main concern is genuinely the seating for Fantasmic.

The show time for this specific day is 9pm and I’m just a little worried as my girlfriend hasn’t seen it before and I haven’t watched it since I was a kid (didn’t get to see it when we went a couple of years back).

The lanyards/mugs are a bonus but not exactly essential and the food/desserts, I couldn’t really care less about as we have the Dining Plan!

If seating is all you care about then just realize that you will still have to arrive early as the line for the special seating starts pretty earlier and if you aren't towards the front of the line you're seating will be less than magical.

I don't think there is any issue bringing food and drink into the show (and there are concessions in the show area). Hit the park stores prior for cupcakes/candy etc and get their early for the free seat that is across the aisle from the people who paid a premium for the event. I don't mind spending money if I perceive a value, but I cannot figure out the value of this event. Enjoy the show though. For my family, no trip to Disney would be complete without seeing Fantasmic.
