Did they ever get the lift fixed? Is everything else in working order? Or do we just add this to the list?
Apparently the lift was fixed most recent refurb, but not properly - MIckey now shoots up at a slower pace, and the spotlight does not go onto him until the fourth beat of the music, rather than the first, to make up for the lost time. You can see it in recent YouTube videos - your average park guest would not notice that kind of thing.

Saw it about two weeks ago. The lift was definitely slower, a bit obvious to me after seeing it at least a dozen times. Rafiki's boat was also dark then, so something is up there. Could barely even tell it was him.

There are a few segments of the show that look odd...Fantasmic has been missing their outer spotlights for a couple weeks now. These primarily light these segments. There is maintenance work being done to the lifts (you can see them in the slightly raised position). No idea why this work wasn't completed during the...cough cough... "refurbishment".

I think if Fantasmic FL was truly cutting edge technology, guests would be more patient with technical mishaps that would occasionally occur. But it's all 1990s technology and the show's been running since 1998...it probably should work better. But like most everything else that doesn't work across WDW property...it all points to poor and inexperienced maintenance with lax "non-Disney" standards.

I saw Fantasmic in April (I think) of 2008 & the dragon did not disappear after Mickey kills it. If I remember correctly it stayed out through out the end of the show. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've seen the show, that's the only time I can remember a technical malfunction.

Fantasmic has so many technical issues it's just :(

i really wish they get to giving this ride some updating for its problems soon, this is getting ridiculous.

I've seen youtube videos of technical difficulties and then they restarted I guess...but so much for the saying "the show must go on". I would be so upset lol

Sometimes, though, the show simply can't go on. The water screens play a huge part in the show. I'd estimate that something like 40% of the show is nothing more than the audience watching the screens. If they're not working, there would be huge gaps in the show where the audience would be doing nothing more than watching the cast move in place for the next scene (because the screens also provide a sort of "curtain" while scenes are changed).

Very true! I wasn't thinking. AND its more like 75% of the show! I guess that's one thing I don't like is so much screens while they move things on the stage...

This isn't a Fantasmic related technical difficulty, but I remember on my first night in July 2010, the Summer Nighttastic fireworks show (I forget the name, it involved pirates though, nothing like Wishes at all.) actually went on without Tinkerbell flying. The second time I saw her, she did end up flying. It was odd.

seems like there is a new thread every week on technical difficulties during the fantasmic. Went in Feb and steamboat willy finale was missing. I understand that shutting it down for awhile during the summer time would be bad for DHS, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The show has suffered due to lack of maintenance and Disney continues to turn their head on this issue. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO RETURN THIS SHOW TO IT'S ORIGINAL GLORY!

I would actually argue that the show does not need to return to its original anything- it needs an update. The reason there are so many breakdowns and technical issues is because nothing has been touched since the show opened. What it needs is to go down for a lengthy refurb, (which it hasn't ever done) like its DL cousin has several times, to update all of the technology and equipment.
