Fantasmic and EMH

As we start planning our trip in the Fall, I notice that fantasmic starts everyday a half hour after park closing. I am trying to figure out what the advantage of EMH are if I want to go to fantasmic and take advantage of EMH, as it seems I loose almost all of the EMH if I go to fantasmic, and we want to go to the show as we only get to Disney about every two years. Sounds almost like a waste of EMH. Does this basically mean that my only advantage may mean one ride on TSMM. Just seems like I got ripped off. Others that have done this, what are you able to do?

I would not to to DHS on an evening EMH day and watch Fantasmic! Like you said, it is a waste of the time.

I park hop to DHS at 9:30 pm or so after illuminations and ride the rides during an evening EMH. Save Fantasmic! for a non-emh night.

I'm counting on EMH at DHS for my trip in May to do the Fantasmic 10:30 show. This trip will be my shortest trip so far at 4.5 days, so I'm doing a spilt between AK & DHS one day and have set up FPs for AK.

I'm also going in May on an EMH day, and intended to do the 9pm Fantasmic...then enjoy the park until it closes at midnight. I thought that would give us roughly two hours of time to hit lots of good stuff. Is that not a viable plan?

It can be viable depending on how many hours there are between Fantasmic! ending and the park closing. 2 hours is a decent amount of time to get stuff done, so I think your plan is viable. If a person only had 1 hour, probably not worth it.

The problem is park closes at 8, fantasmic starts at 8:30, which means you are getting out somewhere 9 or after, which with the crowds around you to get out of there leaves little time for EMH which ends at 10. Feels a bit like you are short changed. The only way to take advantage of this i think is to not do Fantasmic and you have the park mostly empty as it is in EMH and lot of the others will over at Fantasmic

I decided to save my evening EMH at DHS for rides. We are going another night just for fantasmic. Plus, we got the fantasmic dinner package so we wouldn't have to show up 2 hours early for seats.

We decided to do the same, except for the dinner package. Amazing how much thought and planning goes into all this, but then when it is all said and done, it is worth it.
