ive seen Fantasmic a few times recently and the dragon hasnt vome out at all. I thinik maybe they are refurbishing the dragon and just have Malificent instead.

In fact, there was a rumor that they are thinking of changing the name from "FANTASMIC" to..... "CRAP-TACULAR"!

I'd say the Dragon is more "artsy" than "cheesy", but I do agree that I wish it looked more like they show in the guide books. The head and wings look great, but I don't really like the "banners" hanging off its neck. A very minor quibble in one of my favorite shows at Disney :)

I've seen Fantasmic! MANY times. I've seen a lot of the faults others have said, such as John Smith not swinging or the Dragon failing to come out. However, the funniest (and worst) show I saw was during really bad weather. They really should have canceled the show, but it went on anyway. It was so foggy that you could hardly see the mountain and everything that happens on it and the images on the water screens were almost unrecognizable. The funniest thing was the part during the Pocahontas scene where someone shoots an arrow and a flame follows a wire from where he shoots on top of the mountain to blow up some barrels on the stage. Well, he shot the arrow but the flame hardly moved! It moved down the wire VERY slowly throughout the rest of the Pocahontas scene, long after the "barrel blast". This was also the show where the Dragon was a no show.

I did see at least one 100% perfect show on New Year's Eve 1999. Everything was super and worked just like it should and the CM's doing the show seemed to have an extra bit of energy that made the show one of the best I had ever seen. :)

that's because the dragon in the guide books is the one from DL.

Fantasmic is my favourite disney show i went a whole two years without even realising there was a dragon in it. we saw it twice and the dragon wasnt there. However when we returned we saw it twice again and the first time everything was great but only one jet of firworks came out of mickeys hand instead of two.

The second time we saw it has to be one of my best nights at disney. It was a night when there were two showings one at 9 and one at 10 30. We decided to go to the 10 30 one as a cast member told us thst it would be a lot quieter. WE manged to ride ToT and RnR over and over from about 8:15 to 9:30 as EVERYONE seemed to be in line for fantasmic. in TOT we had an elevater too ourselves and a VERY creepy castmember. we just had to buy the photo. disney can get you out of so much money its untrue.
Anyway sorry for my ramblings...the moral of my story is..the second showing was amazing. no faults and a half empty audorium. you still had the crowd atmosphere but we got there at twenty past ten and sat dead centre near the front. crazy.
A brilliant night.

sorry if I'm repeating..

I'd just like to know the real difference between the DL and WDW dragons in fantasmic. I read that the WDW is the old DL one and not as realistic looking, can someone fill me in on this?

I've seen Indiana Jones fail from start to end. That was the best showing of it. I swear they got off on the wrong foot or something and nothing went right through the whole show. We saw the very next showing of it and it was perfect. It always cracks me up.

I know this is a little off topic (I apologise), but could you tell me what went wrong with the Indiana Jones show when you saw it? IMO, I think there's very little risk of anything going wrong as compared to Fantasmic, so would really like to know.

Does Indy get chopped up by the plane? :drevil:
