Fantasmic Alternate Ending

I went and saw fantasmic tonight, and i suppose they had problems with the dragon, cause they used the alternate ending. but there were a few other problems too.

first off, at the 'now you will see how snakelike i can be' part, as soon as the snake started moving, the head of the snake collapsed. i don't know if the person in it tripped or what but it fell to the ground, moved around a little bit, then was still. i hope nothing bad happened.

then, when it was time for the dragon to be there, it wasn't. malicifant (sp?) was still there, very high on her risers. she started the fire in the water by waving her want towards it, and mickey did the same things that he did when the dragon was there. it wasn't bad.

then last thing i noticed was at the end. when mickey is supposed to magically get from the top of the mountain to the front center stage, he didn't appear in the front center. he ran in from stage left, then ran out after that part.

odd.

Wow, sounds like they were having some major problmes with the show. Was the weather bad? That can sometimes have an effect on how the show goes. Hoepfully they'll get everything fixed.

Well Captain Hook i don't think many of the Americans will get what i presume to be your "fast show" reference! But i do LOL!! No Offence! Anyway i went to Fantasmic in 2000 when it was raining and Mickey slipped over but carried straight on, no other mishaps

You know that video on the main site, when they have to restart the show? Well that happened to us one time we watched it. It was pretty funny, because the audio continued, but the beam of light never showed. Then the audio stopped, but the center fountain started flowing, and the light towers rose. Mickey made a brief appearance before the restart too, I think. It was quite interesting. Weather could've been a factor, I can't exactly remember.

Not uncommon...

I've seen the show quite a lot of times, and there's not too many times that I've experienced a 100% version of the show. In addition to the Maleficent-only ending (which is indeed flawless when they have the knowledge in advance that there will be no dragon), there is often some pyro missing, light towers that don't go up/down-and most all of this stuff is completely unnoticed by the casual eye.

But I have seen the dragon come out, start to move, then die a lifeless death. They got Maleficent back on her elevator really quickly, but for the rest of the show there was a big, grey, dead dragon sitting there (the crowd didn't seem fazed at all, however). I've also seen Mickey not appear on the mountain-top, which is my favorite part and thus what I consider to be the worset technical flaw! John Smith will often opt not to do his swing across the mountain, too, he has the right to call it if the visibility from smoke is too bad.

Everytime I've seen Fantasmic! (which is about 6 or 7 times) fortunately nothing has ever gone wrong. Although I saw this video one time of a guy taping the show. In the beginning, the light towers rise up and you hear the regular audio and then when the beams of light shine really fast to the stage, Mickey appears. Only one problem. When the lights zoomed to center stage, there was no Mickey. It was funny, they had to restart the show!

The only thing I've ever seen go wrong in the show is John Smith failing to swing across. Bamboo is right. He just goes backstage and then reappears at the top of the Mountain. It's not as exciting, but since there's so much going on stage at that point with all the stunts going on, it's not incredably noticable unless you know the show well.

I have always thought the dragon in Fantasmic looked rather cheesy and not well put together. In all of the guide books, they make it look AWESOME, but you get there, and it looks like it's going to go tumbling down the mountain!

If it was the same over and over it might get a little boring. We have seen it many times and only once was there a noticeable difference. It was one he didn't swing across and for some reason it was awfully smokey that night. As I recall it was getting quite windy. I expect Magic, not perfection!!!! I've seen Indiana Jones fail from start to end. That was the best showing of it. I swear they got off on the wrong foot or something and nothing went right through the whole show. We saw the very next showing of it and it was perfect. It always cracks me up.
