We are a family of 9- 6 adults, 3 grandchilden, ages 2 1/2, 2 and 11 months are going to WDW October 14-20. I am a AP holder and was considering purchasing TIW. However, I know many restaurants state that we may be seated at more than one table. Below are our ADRs-

Chef Mickeys
'Ohana
Crystal Palace
Cape May Buffet
Le Cellier
Mickey's Backyard BBQ
Hollywood & Vine
Sci-fi Diner

Does anyone know the size of the tables at these restaurants? Also, if we are seated near each other, can I pay for both tables?:veryconfu

Just from personal experience and table lay out I think with 9 people you would be sat next to each other but perhaps the tables aren't touching.

I know at Sci-Fi you will probably get 2 cars right next to each other or end up at one of the non-car tables which aren't as fun. It just depends on when you are going and what other reservations they have at the time.

We had 10 at Chef Mickey's No problem, they sat us at a single table in the corner next to the window with a Magic Kingdom view. Worked out great, while waiting for the characters we were able to watch the fireworks.

Disney always states that you could be separated when you have a large party, but I almost never see it happen. They do it as a just in case because there aren't tables that seat more than 6 at most restaurants and this covers them in case they can't get two together. From your list, the only one that is problematic is Sci-Fi. If you want to sit in cars, they only seat six, but they might be able to get you cars near one another. If cars aren't important, then you can probably all sit together at one of the picnic tables.

i would definitely ask questions each time i checked in. last august we had ressies for 7 at brown derby, were told it would be 2 tables when we booked. we were ok with this.
however, when we checked in, without telling us, the CMs decided to try to get us one table all together. which was nice of them, but one hour later, when we asked what was taking so long. they told us they were waiting for the larger table.
NO, the 2 1/2 year old was driving us nuts waiting in that crowded crazy waiting area, and the 10 month old was now WWAAYY past nap time and getting really cranky. BAD IDEA guys, thanks for the thought, but really not helpful to us.
so, just ask when checking in if they are trying to make it one table and if it will delay your being seated. i know they were trying to help, but in our case it didn't.

Every experience is different but here is what has happened with my family in past years:

Chef Mickeys: We were a family of 10 and five were put to one table with the other 5 at another table. We weren't next to each other either, we were separated depending on what tables were opened.

'Ohana: We all sat at one table. Ohana means family so I really can't see them splitting that up. Kinda ruins the point of the experience, lol

Crystal Palace: we were all placed at joining tables and ate together.

Cape May Buffet: Never been here

Le Cellier: We were all placed at joining tables and ate together

Mickey's Backyard BBQ: Never been here

Hollywood & Vine: Never been here

Sci-fi Diner: They put us in the back where there were long extended tables. The front table was the front of car and the back table was the back of the car.

All in all, they do their best to keep you together but if the place is busy, there may be a risk of splitting up.

We were a group of 15 in 2008

'Ohana - all sat together
Crystal Palace - all sat together
Cape May Buffet - all sat together
Le Cellier - all sat together
Hollywood & Vine - sat at 3 tables all next to each other
Liberty Tree Tavern - 3 tables next to each other
Coral Reef (12 ppl) - all sat together
CRT (10ppl) - all together

Sci Fi would be the only place you should expect to be seated at a couple of tables.

Sci Fi should make a stretch limo for big parties, maybe a Hummer complete with neon interior that changes colors and has a hot tub.

Like the others have stated, every situation and restaurant is different. And Disney says that they will do their best to accommodate large parties but reserves the right to separate. As for paying - that is not an issue - you can pay for both. Just ask when you check in at your reservation time and they will do the best to accommodate you and your family. Have fun! It sounds like it will be a special vacation!
